Forge of Enchantment
Forge of Enchantment turns the trophies of the creatures you slay into power: find an ancient forge in the Black Forest, open sockets in your gear and set your trophies into them. Every trophy drops with a rarity, every socket is a gamble in the style of the Forge of Potential — and the rarest trophies make your weapons glow. Full controller support.
How it works
- Find the forge – one per world, somewhere in the Black Forest. Once you have found it, it is on your map.
- Open sockets – up to three per weapon or armor piece. Each attempt costs yellow mushrooms and, like the Forge of Potential, can destroy the item.
- Set a trophy – the forge offers you effects to choose from; the trophy's rarity decides how strong it is.
- Remove – destroy a set trophy to free its socket for a better one.
- Merge – move all trophies of one item into a new one of the same kind, for example when you craft better gear. Merged trophies get scarred, and a merge can break both items.
Trophy rarity
Trophies drop in six rarities, from Normal to Mythic. Tougher creatures, later biomes and starred enemies drop rarer trophies more often. Rare trophies lying on the ground glow in their rarity's color, so a lucky drop never goes unnoticed.
Rare trophies glow and sparkle where they drop.
Effects
Over sixty effects for weapons, shields, armor, capes and tools — from damage and attack speed to stamina, movement and gathering. Every value is rolled when you set the trophy; an exceptionally good roll shows in the rarity's color.
Setting a trophy spins the reels: each one stops on an effect and its value — then you pick the one you want to keep.
Some effects exist only for one kind of item: a throwable one-handed axe, a hammer that repairs everything around the piece you fix, a harpoon that lets you climb steep slopes, a torch that can be refilled instead of burning away, or gear that no longer slows you down.
The forge's compendium lists every effect, where it can roll and from which rarity on.
Socketed weapons glow in the color of their rarest trophy — in your hands, on your back and on the ground.
Hunt groups
Every creature belongs to one of five hunt groups. Wear trophies of different creatures from the same group and the group reaches a higher stage: its creatures drop their trophies more often. Each group also favors its own effects, so what you hunt shapes what you get.

Socketed gear and rare trophies are marked in the inventory by their rarity.
Merging moves all trophies into a new item.
Tribute statues
Some statues at the forge wear a golden chain with an empty hook. Each awaits the trophy of one mighty foe — hang it there and the forge serves you better, for good:
| Statue | What it does for the forge |
|---|---|
| Two of them | The forge offers you one more effect to choose from. |
| One | Opening a socket breaks your gear less often. Sometimes the attempt merely fails. |
| One | Merging breaks your gear less often. Sometimes the attempt merely fails. |
| One | Sometimes a merge leaves no scars. |

Adding the mod to an existing world
A world created before this mod has no forge yet. An admin can add it with the console command foe_plan_forge: the forge is then placed in a Black Forest area nobody has explored yet. Alternatively, use Upgrade World: locations_add foe_forge_location.
Good to know
- Must be installed on the server and all clients.
- Trophies set into an item are lost if the item is destroyed — at this forge or at the Forge of Potential.

Console Commands
A few console commands help to try the mod out. They are cheat commands, so you first need cheats enabled: open the console (F5) and type devcommands.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
foe_trophy <trophy> [rarity 1-6] |
Gives you a trophy of the chosen rarity. |
foe_socket <effect> [rarity 1-6] [roll 0-100] |
Sets an effect straight into the first equipped item it fits — no forge, no cost, no luck needed. |
foe_open [count] |
Opens sockets on the item in your hands, without risk. |
foe_clear |
Removes all sockets and trophies from the item in your hands. |
foe_stand [statue|all] [on|off] |
Hangs tributes on the forge's statues, or takes them down. |
foe_socket offers tab-completion for the effect names. To place the forge in front of you, use Valheim's own location foe_forge_location.
