Mouse Stacks
Manage your Valheim inventory stacks with simple mouse controls.
Features
- Right-click to collect: Pick up one item, then right-click the same source stack to add one more per click, up to the available quantity.
- Scroll to adjust: Scroll up or down to change the quantity on your cursor. Reaching zero cancels the selection. Works with stacks picked up using left-click too.
- Scroll to start: Scroll up over a stack with an empty cursor to pick up one item.
- Middle-click for half: Click the mouse wheel over a stack with an empty cursor to take half. Odd quantities round down, with a minimum of one.
- Drag to distribute: With a stack on your cursor, hold left-click from an empty slot, move across additional empty slots, and release to distribute evenly.
- Live preview: Selected slots show a translucent item icon and their planned quantity.
- Remainder handling: 30 items across three slots becomes 10/10/10; 10 items becomes 4/3/3 in selection order.
- Quick item use: Hold Alt and right-click to use stackable items, such as food.
Installation
Requires BepInEx. Place MouseStacks.dll in BepInEx/plugins/MouseStacks/.
For Thunderstore Mod Manager, use your active profile's BepInEx folder.
Restart Valheim after installation or updates. Replace the existing DLL when updating.
Configuration (1.3.0)
Open Configuration Manager (default F1) and select Mouse Stacks. Settings use the standard BepInEx configuration system supported by shudnal's Configuration Manager and cjayride's Configuration Manager. Install either manager; Mouse Stacks does not require one to run.
Want to eat with a normal right-click? Turn off Right-click to collect. Left-click, middle-click and wheel features remain available independently.
All features are enabled by default, preserving previous controls. Changes in Configuration Manager apply immediately.
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Enable mod | Turn Mouse Stacks controls on or off. |
| Right-click to collect | Pick up one item and accumulate more from the same source. Disable for normal right-click item use. |
| Scroll to adjust | Change the carried quantity with the wheel. |
| Scroll to start | Pick up one item by scrolling up with an empty cursor. |
| Middle-click for half | Pick up half a stack. |
| Drag to distribute | Distribute across empty slots with left-click dragging. |
| Distribution preview | Show planned quantities and translucent icons. Can be disabled while keeping distribution. |
| Use item modifier | Key held with right-click to use food or other items. Default: LeftAlt (either Alt works). Select another key or None to disable the extra shortcut. |
Shift, Ctrl and Alt still bypass the mod's mouse gestures to preserve normal inventory controls. Changing the item-use key adds that key as a right-click bypass. With collection disabled, no modifier is needed to eat. Normal game restrictions on item use still apply.
Changing any setting cancels an unfinished distribution and clears its previews without moving items; the carried selection remains available.
Without Configuration Manager, launch the game once to generate BepInEx/config/ovida.valheim.mousestacks.cfg, close the game, edit the file, and restart. In Thunderstore Mod Manager, use the active profile's config folder.
