CHANGELOG

Changelog

0.4.0

A major HearthLogistics update adding container contents displays, expanded nearby-storage support, inventory improvements, a redesigned container interface, and an early version of Container Portals.

Container Portals are currently a work in progress.

HearthLogistics works client-side without a server plugin. In client-only mode, portal transfers work with loaded containers owned by the local client. An optional server worker, disabled by default, can transfer between unloaded unowned/server-owned endpoints outside player active areas. Expect further changes and improvements to the portal system in future releases.

Container Portals — WIP

  • Added experimental portal installations for chests, carts and boat storage.

  • Install an unlocked standard wood or stone portal recipe onto a container.

  • Link an Outgoing container to an Incoming container using a shared portal ID.

  • Portal transfers respect:

    • Container filters

    • Stock Min / Max rules

    • Fill Available Space

    • Destination capacity

    • Portal type restrictions

  • Added portal status and direction/link indicators.

  • Portal installations consume the normal portal recipe materials.

  • Destroying a container with an installed portal refunds the portal materials.

  • Portal installations are kept separate from copied layouts and templates.

  • Portal IDs are scoped to the character that installed them.

  • Legacy portal pairs can be claimed without paying for the installation again.

Current Portal Limitations — Client-Only Mode

  • Portal functionality works client-side without a server plugin.

  • Both endpoints must be loaded and owned by the local client for transfers to occur.

  • Unloaded-world transfers require the optional server worker; it is disabled by default and only processes unowned/server-owned endpoints outside player active areas.

  • Containers owned by another client may need to wait until they become accessible.

  • Portal behaviour and configuration may change while the feature is being developed.

Ignore Containers

  • Added Ignore this container for personal chests, carts and boat storage.

  • Ignored containers are excluded from:

    • Deposit

    • Restock

    • Rebalance and automatic logistics

    • Nearby crafting and building supplies

    • Download

    • F5 build-material retrieval

    • Portal transfers

    • HearthLogistics contents displays

  • Ignored containers can still be opened and configured normally.

Container Contents Displays

  • Added optional item icons directly to container surfaces.

  • Display:

    • A single item

    • Four-item side grids

    • Six-item front/back grids

  • Choose which container faces display their contents.

  • Added an optional background behind displayed icons.

  • Added per-container background colours with:

    • Colour wheel

    • Brightness

    • Opacity

    • Hex colour entry

  • Save reusable colour swatches per character.

  • Contents display settings are included in copied layouts and templates.

  • Improved icon positioning across different chest models and animations.

  • Added Container Icon Calibration for manually adjusting unusual container models.

Nearby Storage & Multiplayer

  • Improved handling of nearby containers owned by other connected players.

  • HearthLogistics can request normal Valheim container ownership when required for an operation.

  • Added shared read-only inventory information for nearby storage.

  • Restock, Download, Deposit, crafting and servicing now share improved nearby-resource discovery.

  • Improved handling of busy, inaccessible and remotely owned containers.

  • Reduced repeated ownership requests and unnecessary storage scans.

Building & Upgrading

  • Nearby storage can now supply materials for normal item upgrades.

  • Added Building can consume materials in locked slots, enabled by default.

  • Explicit item locks, equipped items and quest items remain protected.

  • Added an F5 shortcut while using the hammer to retrieve missing materials for one copy of the selected build piece.

  • Improved shortage reporting when building from nearby storage.

Inventory Improvements

  • Deposit now consolidates compatible partial stacks after transfers.

  • Equipped partial stacks are preferred where appropriate.

  • Restock and Download can fill unlocked equipped stacks while keeping them equipped.

  • Fixed upgrades being incorrectly rejected when the target item occupied a locked slot.

Interface Improvements

  • Redesigned container configuration into separate main and Contents & Filters panels.

  • Moved commonly used container settings back to the main panel.

  • Added visible draggable scrollbars.

  • Improved panel scaling across different resolutions.

  • Fixed filter-panel controls stretching vertically.

  • Filter actions remain anchored at the bottom while the item list fills the available space.

  • Colour picker now opens independently beside the main panel.

  • Updated HearthLogistics UI to make greater use of native Valheim panel, input, checkbox, slider and scrollbar graphics.

Controls

  • HearthLogistics hotkeys now appear in Valheim's normal Keyboard / Mouse Controls menu.

  • Bindings remain per-character.

  • Escape cancels changes.

  • Delete clears a binding.

  • Added a HearthLogistics reset-bindings option.

  • Mod shortcuts are suppressed while the Controls menu is open.

Fixes & Reliability

  • Improved persistent container configuration synchronization.

  • Added stronger protection against conflicting configuration updates.

  • Improved rollback when transfers or upgrades fail.

  • Fixed stale nearby-storage information causing incorrect building shortages.

  • Fixed several container icon-positioning issues caused by open lids, snow meshes and decorative geometry.

  • Improved diagnostics for Deposit, Restock, Download, portals and container configuration.
