Reign of Kings
One unique castle in the world, a single king and an entire realm to rule. Whoever sits on the throne collects taxes, grants blessings, builds on the royal lands, issues royal decrees, hides treasures for the realm and must defend the crown against duels and revolts.
- Required on the server and on every client.
- Gameplay settings and available blessing, decree and treasure configurations are provided by the server.
- Mod sounds follow the game's SFX volume setting.
- Optional integrations: Guilds and BiomeLock.
- Optional Discord webhooks for realm events, configured on the server.
For Players
The Castle
- There is only one castle per world, with its own map icon.
- The castle area and the royal lands are painted on the map with matching fill intensity and smoother, clearly defined borders.
- Inside the castle, nothing can be built, broken, mined or gathered.
- Around it lie the royal lands, reserved for the king and his guild.

Becoming King
- Sit on the throne and stay seated until the bar fills up.
- Standing up, leaving the area or taking damage cancels the claim.
- The new king is announced to everyone.
Taxes
- While there is a king, part of what you gather (ores, wood, coins and common materials) goes straight to the royal vault.
- The tax rate is set by the king, up to the server limit.
- The Tax status effect shows how much you pay.
Realm Window
- A button pinned to the left side of the screen.
- Realm: who the king is, his guild, protection and tax rate, with separate sections for blessings, royal decrees and the active treasure hunt.
- Blessings and decrees remain visible even when the throne is vacant.
- Taxes: which items are taxed and how much you pay.
- Dethrone: challenge the king to a duel, or start or vote in a revolt.
- Chronicle: past reigns, how long they lasted and how they ended, without an automatic entry limit.
Duel
- Challenge the king at the Duel Stone or in the Dethrone tab of the Realm window.
- There is an entry fee, and both duelists must reach the royal lands in time.
- Nobody dies: whoever falls loses. Staying outside the area for too long also loses the duel.
Royal Blessings
- The king can grant a blessing to every online player (vigor, carry weight, armor, swiftness, experience, health or eitr).
- Choose among the variations created by the administrator, each with its own name, vault cost, duration and effect strength.
- Only one blessing can be active at a time. Granting another replaces it; its cost is paid again.
- Each blessing type keeps its own effect and icon.
Royal Treasure Hunt
- The king hides a treasure somewhere in a chosen biome and the whole server is told.
- A search area is marked on the map, with a configurable radius from 60 to 300 meters. The chest appears when a player is within 60 meters.
- The first to open the chest claims the treasure. The hunt ends when the chest is emptied or time runs out.
- The king can never open it; his guild only if the server allows it.
- Only one hunt can be active at a time. The selected prize configuration defines the vault cost, rewards, duration and cooldown.
- Rewards can contain one or several item types, including items that cannot pass through portals.
Royal Decrees
- Resource Bonus: increase drops by configured percentages for trees and logs, rocks and ores, creatures, and pickables. A variation can affect one or several categories; rewards are not limited to one item or a fixed double drop.
- King's Peace: PvP is forced off for everyone. Royal duels still happen.
- Bountiful Harvest: crops and pickables grow faster by the amount configured for the chosen variation.
- Weather: choose configured climates and affected biomes, including a variation that removes the Mistlands mist. Swamp rain and native event weather overrides are preserved.
- The king chooses variations under Peace, Harvest, Weather and Resources in the Decrees tab.
- Each variation has its own vault cost, duration and cooldown. Cooldowns begin after the decree ends.
- Different decree categories can be active together, with only one active variation per category.
- Decrees continue until they expire even if the king loses the throne. Editing their configuration does not change an already active decree.
For the King
Royal Treasury (castle chest)
- Reign: information about your reign and abdication.
- Tax: adjust the tax rate.
- Vault: check resources with item icons and use its internal Withdraw and Deposit buttons. Deposits accept taxable resources from your inventory.
- Blessings: select a configured variation and grant it to the realm (one active at a time).
- Decrees: issue royal decrees for the realm.
- Hunt: choose a biome and prize, review its rewards, cost and configured duration, and launch a treasure hunt.
- Chronicle: the history of the kings.
- Guide: every rule that applies to you, based on the server settings.
- Tabs are arranged in two rows: Reign, Tax, Vault, Chronicle, then Blessings, Decrees, Hunt, Guide.
Royal Lands
- Only you (or you and your guild) can build in the ring around the castle.
- Buildings keep the game's original durability.
- Depending on the server settings, losing the throne removes the pieces marked as royal buildings, including unloaded pieces and those outside the current royal area.
- The mod imposes no royal building count limit.
- Terrain changes, planting, wards and beds are blocked on the royal lands.
Perks
- Majesty: a regeneration bonus while you reign (inactive during duels).
- Throne Rest: sitting on the throne makes you Rested.
- Title: other players see "King <name>" above your head, on the map and in chat. The chat title does not change your actual player name or the name used by commands.
- Royal Aura: members of your guild near you receive a small bonus.
How to Lose the Throne
- Staying offline for too long.
- Losing a duel or failing to show up for it.
- A revolt approved by the players.
- Bankruptcy (if upkeep is enabled and the vault cannot pay).
- Abdicating, being removed by an admin or, depending on the server, dying, leaving the area or reaching the maximum reign time.
- Every fall is recorded in the Chronicle of Kings.

For Administrators
Installation
- Install the mod on the server and on every client.
- The castle is generated in new worlds. In existing worlds, use
rokcastleplace. - Realm state is stored only on the server in
BepInEx/config/ReignOfKings/SavedData/ReignOfKings.db. - The database stores the king, treasury, active blessings, Chronicle, active decrees, active treasure hunt and their persistent timers.
- Custom configuration folders and files are created on the server; clients receive the available options from it.
- Default models are generated when their configuration folder is empty. Weather models are generated once the game's environment catalog is available.
- The main mod CFG controls gameplay rules and which systems or blessing types are enabled.

- Create multiple
.cfgfiles to offer variations in the king's menu. Blessings use a single folder, without subfolders for each type. - Display names can be written in any language. Keep section names, field names, item prefab names, biome identifiers and environment identifiers unchanged, except treasure section names, which are the displayed prize names.
- Costs use
Item:Amount,Item:Amount; an emptyCostmakes the action free. Costs are paid from the royal vault. - Configuration edits are detected when the available options are read again. Already granted blessings and active decrees keep their saved values.
- Four resource bonus models are supplied: trees, rocks, creatures and pickables, each with 25% for its category.
A blessing configuration:
[Blessing]
Type = Abundance
Name = Royal Abundance
Cost = FineWood:100,TinOre:50
DurationMinutes = 60
Value = 100
Type:Vigor,Abundance,Guard,Swiftness,Wisdom,BalmorEitr.DurationMinutes: at least 1 minute.Value: a positive value. Abundance adds carry weight; Guard adds armor; the other types use percentages. Swiftness cannot exceed 100%.
A treasure configuration can contain several named prizes:
[Coin Purse]
Cost = Wood:200
DurationMinutes = 60
CooldownMinutes = 60
Items = Coins:500,Amber:10
[Royal Jewels]
Cost = IronScrap:100,Wood:500
DurationMinutes = 60
CooldownMinutes = 60
Items = Ruby:3,AmberPearl:5,Coins:1000
- Each section is one selectable prize; all listed items are awarded together.
- Duration must be greater than zero. Cooldown can be zero and begins when the hunt ends.
- The hunt uses only its selected prize's cost; there is no additional global launch fee or random reward draw.
Discord Webhooks
- Enable webhooks in the main mod CFG, then edit
DiscordWebhooks/webhooks.cfgon the server. - Separate links and titles are available for Reign, Duel, Revolt, Treasury, Decrees and Treasure Hunt.
- Customize the event messages under
[Webhook Messages], using the placeholders documented in that file. - Message templates default to English and are independent of the game's translation files.
