ReefLevels
The Reef's creature levels. The client nearest to a creature decides its stars when it spawns; this mod makes that roll ours: the number of stars depends on how many bosses the world has defeated, up to five, and starred creatures can carry an elemental infusion.
Install on the server and on every client. A client without it is not refused: it simply sees vanilla stars (two at most) on a creature that really has more, and fights it at its real level. Players on The Reef get it through the TheReef modpack.
What it does
- Stars per world level. World level = number of the first six bosses defeated (Eikthyr to the Queen). At world level 0 most creatures are 0 stars, some 1 or 2; every boss raises the odds and the ceiling, up to 5 stars.
Maximum starscaps the roll (server setting). - Health and damage per star stay vanilla: health × level, damage +50 % per star, loot × level. Nothing changes there.
- More than two stars shown in the nameplate (5 stars per row), and creatures grow 10 % per star (not in dungeons).
- Infusions. A starred creature can be Fire-, Frost-, Lightning-, Spirit-, Poison- or Chaos-Infused: the name says so, the creature is tinted, part of its damage becomes that element (Spirit also heals it on hit), Poison and Chaos ones burst poison on death on players within 4 m. Chances scale with the stars.
- Breeding (0.2.0). A newborn of tamed animals can be born one star above its parent: boar and hen 25 %, wolf 10 %, lox and asksvin 5 % by default, never beyond 2 stars from breeding. A species absent from the list breeds vanilla (the newborn inherits its parent's level).
- Bosses and players are never touched; tamed animals only at birth, as above.
Coming from CreatureLevelAndLootControl
ReefLevels replaces the creature part of CLLC (level roll, infusions, stars display) with our own code. Creatures already rolled by CLLC keep their level and their infusion (the mod reads CLLC's fields, never writes them). Remove CLLC from the profile: if both are loaded, ReefLevels steps aside and logs a warning. Not carried over: extra effects (Aggressive, Quick, Regenerating, Curious, Splitting, Armored), boss affixes, loot multipliers, damage-taken modifiers, infusion particles.

CHANGELOG
Changelog
0.3.0 — 2026-09-17
- A newborn's stars are drawn around its parents', no longer inherited. Base = the parents' average (mother and the partner she conceived with; mother alone if none was near). One table row per parents' average (two fewer / one fewer / same / one more / two more, in %): 0★ 0/0/80/19/1 · 1★ 0/40/40/19/1 · 2★ 5/35/40/19/1 · 3★ 5/20/56/19/0 · 4★ 10/30/60/0/0. Never more than two stars above the best parent, never above
Max stars(4). A 0-star litter from 3-star parents happens: cull and select. The wild is untouched. - Config

0.2.0 — 2026-09-17 (not published)
- Newborns can gain a star. A tamed animal's offspring has a chance to be born one star above its parent (defaults: boar and hen 25 %, wolf 10 %, lox and asksvin 5 %), capped at 2 stars for breeding. The wild is not affected. One roll per birth, on the owning client, marked in the creature so it is never rolled twice.
[Breeding] EnabledandChances per offspring(name:percent:maxStars), server, synced.
0.1.0 — 2026-09-11
