Fuel From Chests

Add fuel and ore directly from nearby chests to smelters, blast furnaces, charcoal kilns and fireplaces. Cooking-station fuel is also supported.

Controls

• Alt + E: open the resource picker, even when the station is full.
• E: add one unit of the selected resource.
• Shift + E: fill the available capacity using only the selected resource.
• In the picker, click a choice or use the arrow keys and Enter. Press Escape to cancel.

These controls use the default interaction key. Materials in the player inventory are used first, followed by nearby chests. The picker key, fill key and other settings are configurable.

On first use, the mod remembers the first available allowed resource; if none is stocked, it remembers the first allowed resource. A choice made in the picker is remembered locally for that station type and input kind, so fuel and input choices remain separate. If the selected resource is unavailable, the mod does not substitute another resource; open the picker to change the choice.

Features

• Configurable range: 1–100 metres, default 32.
• Fine wood and core wood are excluded by default.
• Uses accessible player-built chests; skips graves, occupied chests and containers marked no-craft by SeneaL UI.
• Works independently of SeneaL UI and leaves crafting and building unchanged.
• Refills on interaction, not in the background.
• Uses a translucent warm-gold picker designed to fit the same general visual style as SeneaL UI, without requiring SeneaL UI.

Installation and settings

Requires BepInExPack for Valheim. Install Fuel From Chests 0.2.0 on every player, the host and any dedicated server. Do not enable Craft From Containers alongside this mod.

Range, excluded materials, controls and remembered resource choices are stored in BepInEx/config/com.valheim.fuelfromchests.cfg. Settings and choices are local to each installation. The selection key is Controls.SelectKey and defaults to Left Alt.

Notes

Vanilla hotbar item use remains available. Avoid using an item on a station while another player is loading that station at the same time, because the two operations can race during an ownership handoff.

Version 0.2.0 passes automated checks; in-game and multiplayer testing is still pending. Compatibility with other station, input, container or UI mods is also untested.
