- A shield under the right end of an enemy's health bar, mirroring the level stars: the parry. Its tint runs from green to red as food wearing off brings the parry closer to failing; grey behind a red cross when it does not hold.
- A golden outline around it while a plain block holds, turning red as the block nears failure.
- A countdown next to the shield for the next loss, inside the warning window.
