This mod requires the following mods to function
denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim
BepInEx pack for Valheim. Preconfigured with the correct entry point for mods and preferred defaults for the community.
Preferred version: 5.4.2350README
Wire's Damage Vignette
A lightweight, client-side low-health vignette and heartbeat for Valheim.
Direct-hit damage flash
When a direct hit actually reduces health, a brief red vignette flashes softly along the edges of the screen. DoT does not trigger the damage flash.
- Damage flash / Enabled: true
- Damage flash / Flash opacity: 0.20 (adjustable from 0 to 0.20)
- Damage flash / Flash duration: 0.60 seconds (adjustable, 0.15-1.50 seconds)
The damage flash's opacity is additive on top of the low health vignette.
Red health vignette
Below the configured health percentage, a red screen-edge gradient appears and gradually becomes stronger as health decreases.
- Start below health (%): 65% by default; independent of heartbeat.
- Maximum opacity: 0.76 by default, reached only at the outermost edges. The fade across the rest of the screen is smooth and gradual.
- Pulse: enabled by default. The red vignette subtly pulses, more strongly at lower health.
When the effects activate
The red vignette AND heartbeat require real health loss, not merely a low health percentage.
Valheim can increase maximum health when you eat food without immediately increasing current health. If that makes your percentage look low, neither effect will activate until you actually take damage. Damage from the game or direct health loss is detected; expiry of food and its associated loss of maximum health do not count as an injury.
After you fully heal, damage detection resets so future food-only deficits do not activate the effects. On loading a character, the mod cannot reliably tell whether existing missing health came from damage or food, so it conservatively waits for the next actual health loss.
Heartbeat
- Start below health (%): 40% by default.
- Volume: 0.5 by default.
- Loudness curke: Exponential (default) or Linear.
Why I made this; my sister often forget's she's at low health lol. She almost died due to freezing and wasted our 1 Troll Endurance potion cus she didn't realize she had 15 health lol.
Disclaimer: the mod's code is AI-assisted since I barely know C#. Not fully AI nor human.
