PortalManager
Every portal in your world, in one list. Walk up to any portal, press use, and pick where you're going.
Features
- One list, every portal. Not just the ones nearby — the list is complete the moment you open it.
- Pick a destination. No more renaming two portals to "mine" to link them, and no more renaming them back.
- Untagged portals show their biome, so a portal you dropped in a hurry is still easy to find.
- Icons. Shift + use at a portal to name it and give it any of the game's map icons.
- Favourites. Star the portals you actually use and they sit at the top of the list. Your stars are yours — they stay on your machine and nobody else sees them.
- Sort by distance, name or biome.
How it works
Use at a portal opens the list. Shift + use opens the name and icon screen.
A portal's tag is just a name now. Two portals can both be called "Home" without interfering with each other, because nothing links them any more — you travel from the list instead.
Travel follows the normal rules. Ore and other blocked items still can't go through, the no-portals world modifier is still respected, and portals still close during a boss fight.
Uninstalling
Turn the mod off and your portals go back to pairing by matching tags, on their own, within a few seconds. Nothing in your world is rewritten to make the mod work.
One thing to know: because the mod lets you reuse names freely, if you've given several portals the same name, the game will pair them up however it likes once the mod is gone. Give them distinct names before uninstalling and they'll come back the way you expect.
Multiplayer
Everyone needs the mod, including the server. The server is the only machine that can see every portal, so a client without it has nothing to ask.
Safe to add to an existing world.
Settings
Server settings are admin-only and sync to clients. Display settings are per-player.

CHANGELOG
Changelog
0.1.9
- Fixed starred portals losing their star every time the game was restarted. A star was filed under the portal's internal id, and the game does not keep those: it hands every object a brand new one each time the world is loaded, so the star was always looking for a portal that no longer answered to that name. Stars are now filed under where the portal stands, which the game does keep. Stars saved before this version cannot be matched up again and are cleared out; star those portals once more and they will stay.
0.1.8
- The Ko-fi button moved to the top of the mod page, with a Discord mod-support link next to it.
0.1.7
- Added a Ko-fi link to the mod page.
0.1.6
- Changed the text shown when looking at a portal to just its name, instead of
Portal Portal tag:"Home".
0.1.5
- Fixed portal names and icons reverting to what they were after saving and rejoining. Portals are not saved with the rest of their zone — they go into a file of their own that the game only rewrites when it thinks a portal has changed, and it decides that by watching portals connect and disconnect. Since this mod stops them connecting at all, nothing ever told the game to write the file. Renaming a portal now says so directly.
- Added the name and position of every portal to the log when the list is fetched, so what the list holds can be checked against what the window shows.
- Changed the count at the bottom of the window to show both numbers when something is being hidden.
0.1.4
- Changed the list to scroll twice as far again per notch of the wheel, and added
ScrollRowsPerNotchso you can set it yourself. It applies when the window opens, so a change takes effect without restarting. - Removed the repository link from the mod page.
0.1.3
- Changed the favourite marker to an actual star.
- Fixed the portal list scrolling at a crawl. A notch of the wheel moved less than half a row; it now moves three.
- Removed the "Rename this portal" button from the list. Shift + use at the portal does the same job in one press without closing anything.
0.1.2
- Fixed the portal list always appearing empty. The window was failing to build: the scroll view's ScrollRect sits on a child object, not on the object handed back, so reading it off the wrong one threw and left the window half-made. The portals were being found and delivered correctly the whole time.
- Fixed naming a portal leaving the game unusable, with the mouse still turning the camera and nothing clickable. Naming now uses the game's own text dialog, which already frees the cursor, stops the player looking around and takes Escape and Return. The icons appear in a tray beneath it.
- Fixed a failed attempt at opening the window leaving a broken one behind that every later attempt reused in silence.
- Fixed the list's row container getting a second layout group and size fitter on top of the ones it already had, which fought each other over the same rectangle.
0.1.1
- Fixed the window showing raw
$portalmanager_...tokens instead of text. Valheim localises its own screens by walking them; nothing walks ours, so every string now goes through Localize on the way in. - Added Shift + use at a portal to open its name and icon screen directly. Naming was reachable only from a button inside the travel list, which made the one thing the vanilla key used to do harder than it was before.
- Removed the search box. The list is meant to be scanned, not queried.
- Changed rows to be considerably larger, with the name at full size and the biome and distance beneath it.
- Added favourites: press the marker on a row to star a portal and it sorts to the top. Favourites are yours alone, stored per world on your own machine, and never sent to anyone.
- Added logging at every step of building and fetching the list, so an empty list can be diagnosed from the BepInEx log rather than guessed at.
- Changed a host or dedicated server to build its own list directly instead of sending itself a network message and waiting for the reply.
- Added a distinct "no answer from the server" message, so a server missing the mod reads as that rather than as a world with no portals in it.
0.1.0
First release.
- Added a portal list, opened by using any portal, holding every portal in the world. The server answers the query, because it is the only machine that can see them all.
- Added direct travel: pick a portal from the list and go there. Every vanilla guard still applies — teleport-blocked items, the no-portals world modifier, and the boss -fight block.
- Added biome names for untagged portals, derived from the world seed so a portal on the far side of the map names itself without its zone being loaded.
- Added an icon picker to the rename screen, offering every map icon the game has.
- Changed: a portal's tag is now a name rather than a link. Matching tags no longer
pair portals, so duplicate names are fine.
KeepVanillaTagPairingrestores the old behaviour, and removing the mod restores it by itself. - Added
TravelRange, defaulting to 4m to match ServersideQoL PortalProgression's own range, so that mod can hand your ore back before the trip is checked.
