README

EverythingsANail

ai usage disclaimer

with the exception of this readme, everything in this repo is ai-generated.

description

this mod allows your hammer to impersonate any other tool you've had in your inventory. you do not need the tool in your inventory to impersonate it.

usage

with your hammer equipped, open the radial menu (default key is G) and select the tool you want to use. tools with multiple tiers (axes and pickaxes) offer the best you have (or the one you're currently using) with the other options available behind a right click submenu.

your hammer's quality, durability, and - if applicable - EpicLoot affixes/shards apply to the item it is impersonating.

interacting with a crafting station turns your impersonated tool back into a hammer because things get real weird if we don't do that.

troubleshooting

use the nail_tools console command to see a list of tools, their names, prefab names (these are used for the OnlyAllow and Exclude config options), and availability.

multiplayer

this mod is not required on the server or on other clients. if the mod is installed on the server, its settings will be enforced on all clients with the mod installed.

mod compatibility

mods that create a new item in the following categories should be supported automatically:

  • Building
  • Butchering
  • Harvesting
  • Fishing
  • Logging (one-handed axes)
  • Mining (pickaxes)

i've successfully used the mod with the following mods that interact with tools in some way:

settings

settings are configurable via editing the settings file directly (BepInEx/config/s992.EverythingsANail.cfg) or via a configuration manager.

these are the default settings:

CHANGELOG

Changelog

This changelog is written by Claude, an AI assistant, from the project's commit history.

1.0.3

  • If a game update breaks something the mod relies on, the mod now turns itself off completely and says so in game and in the log, instead of running half-patched.
  • A malformed rules message from a server is now rejected with a warning (local rules stay) instead of causing an error.
  • An error in the radial menu, its hints or tooltips is logged once and shown as a single message instead of repeating every frame (which could block the player's controls).
  • On a dedicated server, a config file edit made while the file was still locked is now picked up a moment later instead of being missed.

1.0.2

  • Added this changelog to the Thunderstore package. No gameplay changes.

1.0.1

  • New build pieces (for example, oat and potato seeds for the cultivator) are now discovered while carrying a hammer that can become the tool. Previously the real tool had to be in the inventory.

1.0.0

  • Initial release. The hammer can become any tool that has been in the character's inventory (hoe, cultivator, butcher knife, scythe, fishing rod, axes, pickaxes and tools from other mods), selected from the radial menu.
  • Tools are detected by what they do, so tools added by other mods are included automatically.
  • Server owners can choose which tools are allowed; the server's rules apply to everyone connected.
