Void Crew Compass
A configurable compass HUD for clearer callouts and better crew coordination.
Hello, Thunderstore community!
I originally made this mod for myself and my friends, and I'm now sharing it with anyone who might find it useful. It gives you a common directional reference so you can quickly tell your crew where to look or focus their fire.
Requires MelonLoader
This is a MelonLoader mod. You need MelonLoader installed to use it. BepInEx alone will not load it.
I know BepInEx is more common in the Void Crew modding community. I may release a BepInEx version in the future, but I haven't used it myself yet, so I will not promise a port or a release date.
Features
- A compass that follows your viewing direction.
- Cardinal and intercardinal directions: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, and NW.
- Optional heading in degrees.
- Optional elevation angle showing how far you are looking up or down.
- Fixed world directions, so crew members using the mod share the same north, regardless of the ship's orientation.
- An in-game settings menu to adjust the HUD to your preference.
For example, call out "Focus east, 090 degrees!" to give your crew a clear direction.
Controls

Settings
- Show compass - Toggle the compass HUD.
- Show degrees - Display your heading in degrees.
- Show elevation - Display your vertical viewing angle.
- Hide in game menus - Hide the HUD while game menus are open.
- Scale - Adjust the compass size.
- Horizontal position - Move the compass left or right.
- Vertical position - Move the compass up or down.
- Opacity - Adjust the HUD's transparency.
- Visible angle - Adjust how many degrees the compass strip displays.
Use Reset to restore the defaults or Save & close to save your settings and return to the game.
Manual installation
- Install MelonLoader for Void Crew using its official installation instructions.
- Download and extract this mod.
- Place
VoidCrew.Compass.dllin theModsfolder inside your Void Crew installation directory. - Launch the game and press F8 to configure the compass.
Automatic installation through Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman has not been verified for this MelonLoader mod in Void Crew. This is my first upload to Thunderstore, and I'm not familiar with how its automatic installation works.
Notes
The compass uses fixed world directions rather than the ship's forward direction. When looking straight up or down, the horizontal heading is undefined, so the HUD displays VERTICAL instead.
