MoreQuality
Adds Quality variants with unique effects to Starstorm 2 items and equipment, and to Hallowed Concepts' Hallowed items and Hexes.
CHANGELOG
Changelog
0.4.2
- Fixed the game hanging at 99% loading in big modpacks without DpsMeter (issue #6): the DpsMeter lookup now runs once instead of scanning every loaded mod hundreds of times.
- Hex of Acceleration: instead of a constant wind, wind zones now appear where you stand every so often (sooner at higher quality) and push everyone inside them for a while.
- Hex of Blindness: popping a phantom gives you a random malus for a few seconds (longer at higher quality).
- Credits section on the mod page.
0.4.1
- Mod page wording: effects are described, not named.
0.4.0
- Quality Hexes reworked. A quality Hex keeps its normal effect and adds a new twist that changes how you play, instead of just being stronger:
- Acceleration, Gale: a wind sweeps the stage and pushes every player.
- Blindness, Phantoms: harmless illusions of nearby enemies.
- Famine, Hungry: a hunger bar on your HUD; starve when it's empty.
- Greed, Pickpockets: small monsters snatch an item and flee.
- Haunting, Ghost carriers: wisps grab items that land near you and fly away with them; shoot them to get the item back.
- Loss, Slippery fingers: items that trigger can slip out of your inventory.
- Mimicry, Splitting: Mimics burst into smaller ones holding your items.
- Misfortune, Botched: interactions can fail, and you still pay.
- Ossification, Calcify: bone spikes that block and shoot.
- Pain, Shared pain: your damage hits your allies too.
- Patience, Reaper: a reaper swings at you outside the zone.
- Rain, Storm clouds: red storm clouds drift around, enraging enemies and drenching you (less luck).
- Strife, Pass the crown: the Teleporter boss's crown jumps to the next enemy.
- Leaping is unchanged.
- Fixed: a possible hang at 99% loading (seen with 0.3.4). An error in any of MoreQuality's load steps is now logged instead of stopping the game from loading.
0.3.4
- Fixed for real: quality item names showing raw tokens (SS2_ITEM_..._NAME), which still happened for players who weren't the host. The names are now repaired after loading, at every run start and on a language change.
- DpsMeter support: damage from MoreQuality effects is now credited to the quality item (Meltdown, toxic clouds, voodoo dolls, blood wave, jellyfish...) instead of "Unattributed".
0.3.3
- Mod page wording.
0.3.2
- Fixed: some quality item names showed as raw tokens (e.g. SS2_ITEM_ARMEDBACKPACK_NAME) when Starstorm 2 loaded its text after Quality built the names.
- Fixed: MoreQuality's effects used up the game's shared effect budget (Molten's flames especially), so the game could skip other effects, like explosions from enemies or other mods. They now cost the minimum, and Molten shows its flames less often.
- Fixed: MoreQuality's own effects could reuse a previous size, light or duration when the game recycled them.
0.3.1
- Risk of Options support (optional): MoreQuality has its own settings page.
- New: Quality Hand of Death. A Hallowed Shrine's Hand of Death has a 10% chance (configurable) to be white and glowing; every hex it drops gets its own random quality (40% Uncommon, 30% Rare, 20% Epic, 10% Legendary).
0.3.0
- Every quality tier now has the same effects; nothing is reserved for Epic or Legendary any more. Values climb steeply (roughly x1 / x2 / x5 / x10), so Legendary is a bit overpowered on purpose.
- Quality values stack: extra quality copies add half of their own tier's value (two Uncommon Vengeful Spirits are now better than one).
- MoreQuality's own visuals: a flaming molten coin and a chocolate bar model, a fire ring when Molten, a blood wave and blood drops for Sanguine Chalice, a ticking pulse (with sound) for Watch Metronome, toxic clouds, coloured shockwaves, and status marks (Pinned, Hunted, Voodoo, Slowed, Overcharged, Gold Rush, Wounded).
- Man-o'-War now releases a real Jellyfish on your team, so it finally looks like one (no more red orb).
- New mechanics for items that only had bigger numbers:
- Fork, Pitchfork: repeated hits pin an enemy in place, and pinned enemies take more damage.
- Watch Metronome, On the beat: hits right after each tick are big crits and can give a charge back.
- Molten Coin, Pay to burn: burning enemies drop molten coins that set enemies around you on fire.
- Green Chocolate, Comfort food: drops a chocolate bar that cleanses and shares the buff with nearby allies.
- Swift Skateboard, Grind: a burning trail at max stacks.
- Universal Charger, Overcharge: the refreshed skill's next use boosts your damage.
- Hunter's Sigil, Hunting grounds: enemies in the zone take a lot more damage.
- Jet Boots, Afterburner: rocket jumps leave a pool of fire.
- Needles, Acupuncture: needled enemies become voodoo dolls that share damage.
- Portable Reactor, Meltdown: blows up when invulnerability ends (replaces the double chest drop).
- Insecticide, Pesticide cloud: poisoned enemies leave a toxic cloud when they die.
- Field Accelerator, Accelerated particles: faster projectiles and slowed enemies in the zone.
- Galvanic Core: razed enemies arc lightning. Erratic Gadget: strikes can open a chest for free. Droid Head, Self-destruct: drones explode.
- M.I.D.A.S., Gold rush; Greater Warbanner, Plant the flag.
- Sanguine Chalice, Blood offering (replaces the barrier); Earthbound Vessel, Grounded.
- Hexes: Blindness (unseen enemies hit harder), Famine (enemies steal your lost healing), Pain (wounds), Leaping (random sideways push; you can always jump now).
0.2.4
- Fixed: from the start of every run, almost every spawned enemy had the purple Hex-Empowered buff (+20% damage and movement speed), even without any items. It is now only given to Mimics from a quality Hex of Mimicry.
0.2.3
- Short description now mentions Hallowed Concepts.
0.2.2
- Mod page wording.
0.2.1
- The mod page now lists every Hallowed item and Hex with its quality effects.
0.2.0
- New: Hallowed Concepts support. Quality variants for the 11 Hallowed items and the 14 Hexes. A quality Hex is worse, but cleansing it at a Hallowed Shrine guarantees a choice of its quality.
- Fixed: Coffee Bag's Legendary bean pull, Droid Head's second drone and Empty Diary's level-up failed in 0.1.0.
- Man-o'-War: the jellyfish now explodes with the real Jellyfish electric nova.
- Armed Backpack missiles are 3 times bigger at every tier.
- Coffee Bag (Legendary): beans now fly to you from up to 40m.
- Known issues: Man-o'-War's jellyfish still looks like a red orb in flight; a Nightmare Demon whose host dies sometimes falls to the ground instead of jumping to a new enemy.
0.1.0
- First release: Quality variants for 30 Starstorm 2 items and 6 equipment.
