VoidCoinFlip
My friends and I don't always feel like doing the whole void fields, as it can take a while. I decided to make a mod that just chucks it up to chance. Now, a shrine will spawn that prompts a player to pick either heads or tails.
Call it right
- The Void Fields are completed on the spot: every cell finishes, the fog lifts, and the usual exit portals open.
- Each player gets their own pile of expected loot, one per cell (4 white, 4 green, 1 red by default). Open one to choose between a few items of that tier, just like the vanilla cells.
- Every player also gets a gold payout. This way chests in the void can still be opened.
Call it wrong
You have lost the void's wager. Your soul is now forfeit.
In the instance that you chose wrong. You get killed horribly. You must reap what you have sown and experience the downsides of gambling.
I chose this to be the default simply because my friends find it funny. Note that you can change this to just skipping the stage with no loot in the config. Just set LossOutcome to SkipVoidFields
The trials or the wager, not both
The shrine is your alternative to the cells. Feel free to start the trials normally simply by activating the first vent. This will deactivate the gambling shrine and continue normally.
Making the call
- Host: a popup with Heads, Tails and Walk away. You can also press H / T, or Escape to walk away.
- Anyone else: whoever uses the shrine types
headsortailsin chat.
Currently only the host gets the popup window. Will probably add it so that anyone in the lobby can see it. For now, those that are not host just use chat to select after interacting with the shrine.
Multiplayer
Only the host needs the mod technically. Everything gameplay-related works for friends without it. Friends who also install it get the shrine's purple outline and proper name, the quiet music, and the win chime.
Give the shrine a voice (optional)
The shrine can whisper to you as you approach. Drop your own .wav clips named shrine_voice1.wav, shrine_voice2.wav, etc. into the mod's folder (next to VoidCoinFlip.dll). It picks one at random each time. I am shipping the mod with anton chigur lines from No Country for Old Men because I find it funny but feel free to replace them with your own or disable them in the config.
