Settings reference
Updated 4 days agoGame-side settings live in settings.txt, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Helden\Saved\GrainRotChatChaos\. The mod creates it the first time you reach the game with the mod enabled. It's outside the mod folder, so updates never overwrite it.
Open it with Settings.cmd (next to Start-Companion.cmd), or with any text editor.
- One setting per line:
name = value. A#starts a comment. - Changes apply within 5 seconds after you save, no restart needed.
- Delete a line to go back to the default value.
- Values outside the limits below are clamped to the nearest limit. Unreadable lines are ignored. Either way, a line explains it in
UE4SS.log([ChatChaos] settings, line ...). - Cost, title, cooldown and on/off of the Twitch rewards are not here: change them in your Twitch creator dashboard.
General
| Setting | Default | Allowed | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
language |
en |
en, fr |
Banner language, and the language of rewards the companion creates from then on. ALT + L in game switches it and writes this line for you. |
min_gap_s |
3 |
0 to 4 | Seconds between two effects, whatever they are, so each one gets its moment and its banner. |
kill_key |
F10 |
a key name | Emergency stop is CTRL + this key. |
Every effect
Each effect has these two lines (replace scare with the effect key):
| Setting | Default | Allowed | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
scare.enabled |
true |
true, false |
false: the effect is never played, redemptions are refunded (disabled). To hide it from viewers, turn the reward off in your Twitch dashboard instead. |
scare.where |
see below | any, outpost, dungeon |
Where the effect may play. Elsewhere it's refunded (wrong_place). |
weapon and infect always stay in the dungeon: their where line is ignored, because an item or an infection received at the outpost could end up in your save.

stamina |
Infinite stamina | dungeon | duration_s (60, 1 to 120) |
god |
Invincible | dungeon | duration_s (30, 1 to 120). Protects against hits, not against instant deaths like the grinder. |
spawn |
Spawn a monster | dungeon | distance (400, 100 to 1500): centimeters behind you |
weapon |
Surprise weapon | dungeon (fixed) | none |
infect |
Grain Rot infection | dungeon (fixed) | none |
