How to Webfish

All 70 fish from Webfishing are now in How to fish. Catch, shoot, fight and sell all the rarities.

An "insane" aquarium now sits in your lobby, holding your rare fish and making money for your lobby based on the value of the fish it holds.

You need WEBFISHING installed through Steam. The mod reads the fish from your own copy, once, and never provides WEBFISHING's files. Everyone you play with needs this mod (the same version) and their own one-time setup (the game walks you through it the first time you start it).

Features

• WEBFISHING fish on the line. About 1 in 4 bites on the general lures (Beginner, Standard, Professional, Scientific) is a WEBFISHING fish. Better lures bring better qualities (Normal up to Alpha), bigger fish and better prices. Each island has its own fish. The last two islands have "saltwater fish" available to catch.
• Rain. Dynamic rain and clouds appear when Webfishing rain fish are biting.
• Catch journal (J) for every WEBFISHING fish you've caught. Opens only in the [Tab] menu.
• Shared Insane Aquarium. Place it on an island (P) and press E on it: put fish in (WEBFISHING or How to Fish), feed them, collect the income, take a fish back out, and buy upgrades (a bigger tank, an auto-feeder, decor). Now and then a creature attacks the tank: fight it off. Zen mode turns attacks off for less income. The income scales with the size of your lobby.
• Shiny fish. 1 in 2000 fish (WEBFISHING or How to Fish) is shiny, in negative colours with a sparkle; bosses can be shiny too ;)
• TNT can bring WEBFISHING AND Shiny fish to the surface too.
• Two new items:
  • Web Fishing Lure ($1000, on the last island, next to the bait shop): while it's on, every bite is a WEBFISHING fish. L switches it on and off.
  • Shiny Charm ($9999, on the first island, behind the NPC at the lighthouse): shiny odds are 4x higher for you. Ctrl+L switches it on and off; a small orb floats above your head.

First start (Get the webfishing fish from your install)

A How to Webfish box appears once:

1. Press GDRE download page. On that page, download GDRE_tools-v2.7.4-windows.zip into your Downloads folder. GDRE Tools is a free, open-source tool the mod uses to read your WEBFISHING; it isn't included.
2. Press Set up now. The mod checks the download against the official release, reads the fish from your WEBFISHING (about a minute) and they appear without a restart.

Pressed Later? While in game, press F8 and type wf.firstrun into the console.

Multiplayer

The host's world owns the aquarium and remembers who bought which shop item. If you don't see WEBFISHING fish on the second island with a Beginner Lure, you may not have done the WEBFISHING setup yet: either restart the game and accept when it shows, or in game press F8 and type wf.firstrun into the console.

Keys and settings

J journal · P place the aquarium · E aquarium menu · L Web Fishing Lure · Ctrl+L Shiny Charm · F8 console. Settings are in BepInEx\config\com.wfxhtf.mod.cfg and com.wfxhtf.adapter.cfg. Cheat and test console commands are off unless you set [Debug] Commands = true.

Compatibility

Checked alongside MoreFish, Better How To Fish, How To Fish - Extended, Fishypedia, GreedySeagulls and MorePlayers (all loaded at once: the world, aquarium, shop and rain work):

• MoreFish adds its own fish; if you use it, everyone in the lobby needs it too.
• Better How To Fish's giant sizes scale WEBFISHING fish values as well.
• How To Fish - Extended changes which How to Fish fish bite.

Your files

The mod only writes to %LOCALAPPDATA%\WFxHTF (the fish it reads from your WEBFISHING, your journal, the aquarium and shop files of each world, GDRE Tools, and logs only if you turn them on). It never alters Webfishing's files. Nothing is sent anywhere except between the players in your Steam lobby. Delete that folder to remove everything.
