Arduous Hardships: Ultimatum
Updated a day agoPLEASE READ EVERYTHING BELOW CAREFULLY
Arduous Hardships: Ultimatum is a special version of the mod pack I originally made for my friends to play only, it has a lot of stuff in it that prevents it from being able to be released to the public as just a simple Thunderstore upload. However, if you are reading the Wiki stuff at all, you must clearly have some care about base AH, and also the capability to actually read important information when it's presented to you! So, I'm gonna leave the code to install AHU here, and trust you'll understand the following requirements to play:
- DO NOT install any missing dependencies, or update any mods if any need to be updated, the mods that are missing dependencies are not required for the pack to function, and you'll be adding extra stuff that will take more of your hardware's resources.
- Do not attempt to buy the Denomination Analyzer, I set its price to 999999 because it doesn't have other stuff required to function properly in this pack
Now, here is the code for AHU, I will be updating this more often than AH probably, and there will not be announcements when it is updated, so check back every now and then.

- Added the moon "Wild East", primarily for some of the scrap items from it, but it does have a content configuration
- Just note its more immersion breaking than other moons

- Added a few more exclusive items to Zenit
- Removed the 999999 priced items from the store, which also removes the need to have extra rules about the Art Gallery's safes for playing
- why is the option to do this disabled by default in lunarconfig???????
- Reorganized some of the text below about item changes/info
- Added 27 splash texts
- Made splash texts yellow for clearer visibility
===
Below this is info about what you need to know regarding extra content, in a similar style to the "Modded Stuff Info" Wiki page, please check there if you are confused about something, or just don't understand something.
RUNNING THE PACK
AHU specifically is over one whole gigabyte in cache, almost 2 GB, which is a fairly massive difference from base AH, and a lot of that cache ends up going unused for one reason or another. While it is still far more optimized compared to most mod packs on Thunderstore, do not try to run this pack if you really believe your computer will not be able to with its hardware.
GENERAL DIFFERENCES
- 10 extra moons
- 5 extra interiors
- 18 extra monsters
- 1 extra weather
- 130 extra scrap items to find/obtain from monsters
- 1 extra equipment item to buy from the store
- 3 extra suits & 2 extra ship decors (suits not really by choice but whatever)
- Assurance and Vow are free to route to
- Experimentation had its min/max scrap changed to 8 - 12, the entire scrap spawns are changed, and one less Old Bird spawns outside
- Flashlights and Pro-Flashlights cost money again (due to the Jinn)
EXTRA MOON GIMMICKS
Thallasic (Tier 1)
This is a moon that used to be in the base version of AH, and it comes back into the list of moons in AHU with the exact same gimmick it had before. It acts as an introduction moon to the Harbinger, often spawning Barbers and Hygroderes to deal with that he teleports around, and the outside has Thumpers and Earth Leviathans usually.
Noctis (Tier 1)
Funny story about this one's gimmick is I forgot one of my friends (who also made the monster used outside) did the exact same idea as I did for it, though I'm pretty sure they're chill with me doing so, so thanks to Boom for that! Anyways, the gimmick is a Barber variant spawns outside named the Paradesman, two will spawn from Daytime power fairly quickly, and this can be pretty scary on this moon. Noctis itself is a very small and dark moon, so this was a pretty easy to think of idea. Indoor spawns consist of a lot of other vanilla game monster variants from Boom, which take up a majority of the 17 extra modded monsters. Less vague info about them will be written below the extra moon's gimmicks.
Lecaro (Tier 2)
Lecaro is my favorite modded moon ever made, I'm a person who values gameplay more than anything else, and its gameplay for me is insanely fun and enjoyable, and I love the items it comes with, as they're not super far off from the vanilla vibe compared to most other items from Magic_Wesley. So, it kind of makes sense for it to be in this version of AH, since I love it so much. I wanted its edit to be sort of like "rough to play, but has insane profit attached", which I think was executed quite well for what I did. Tips for those who've never played it: There are breakable stalagmites on the moon, mostly in the interior, and you have to actually break one to start going over to entrances, assuming you don't come with a jetpack or the Cruiser. You need to use a melee weapon to do this, and because of that, a shovel spawns in front of the stalagmite you have to break every time you land. Stalagmites will also sometimes fall from the ceiling, indicated by a rumbling sound and dust particles, and if you don't move out of the way of it, you will be crushed and instantly killed. There's a few spots this can happen at the exterior, but you cannot break them once they fall down. There's a couple other things interactable by the player, however they aren't essential to write down, so I'll leave it to you to figure those things out.
Symbiosis (Tier 2)
Primarily the modded interior Greenhouse from Magic_Wesley, alongside spawns that depend on triple or quad monster combos to be very dangerous. Outdoor spawns also have a couple of surprises that may be viewed as mean, and the exterior in general can be fairly difficult to properly navigate, but comes with five fire exits.
Kiln (Tier 3)
It's a fairly standard experience of scrap and monster spawns inside, semi-revolving around artwork. The real gimmick is outdoors, since Kiln does not normally spawn outdoor threats, and depends on Masked and the steam leaks that damage you to make up for that. Masked no longer spawn, and a singular swarm of a Mask Hornets variant called Blood Skittos will spawn outside eventually.
Torridity (Tier 4)
This one is especially more traditional styled, I wanted at least one extra moon to feel less like a specific gimmick you have to endure, and more friendly towards general players (even though this version of AH wasn't public before). If anything, this moon often spawns the Snare Flea variant Vernel, and the Jinn.
Zenit (Tier 4)
This is actually a fairly special moon to me, it used to be in a very VERY old version of AH, long before it was some-what well known around the modding community, and even before v50 released. It had the wonderous gimmick of outdoor Nutcracker spawns, doesn't that sound amazing?!? Anyways, with its old history status, it was perfect for the gimmick of a moon that revolves around unused content, from both base AH and older versions of AHU. The only scrap that spawns is ones that were previously/would have gone unused, and it primarily is Toy Store from Magic_Wesley, which was an unused interior. Additionally, there's two Boom variants that were originally unused, both of them being Eyeless Dog ones.
Determination (Tier 5)
Probably took me the most playtesting until I was satisfied with it. This is one of Boom's moons, and almost all of them have the gimmick of really slow days but gigantic interiors. I wanted to sort of keep that, and I kinda had to anyways since on-foot deliveries on this moon take at least 2 and a half stamina bars to finish (not counting weight effects, it's more like 3 full bars on average). The time is not as slow as before, but it still is quite a bit more than an average Lethal Company moon. Since the time is so slow, when monsters spawn here, both inside and outside, you're definitely going to notice it. There's also a gimmick of interior spawns consisting of monsters that either drop scrap, or monsters that interact with items in some way. Every natural scrap is only scrap added for Ultimatum also. Cruiser or jetpack is highly recommended.
templatemoon_sniper (Tier 6)
The perfect experience that truly encapsulates Arduous Hardships. :)
Wild East (Extra)
Alright, just straight up, this is a location from the Undertale fangame, Undertale Yellow, and has several references to characters from it around the map and in some scrap items. However, I included it because I love a few of the scrap items, especially Pops, and I had an itch to have them be in AHU. The moon itself does have a configuration you can play, and it's roughly a Tier 2, maybe Tier 3 in disguise due to the monster spawns. It has exclusive scrap items and monsters that originally went/would have gone unused, just like Zenit, as well as an exclusive, previously unused interior as its primary, being Fractured Complex.
EXTRA MONSTER INFO
Puppeteer
When they spot a player, they will walk up to them and force them to be unable to move when close enough, they do this so they can bind your soul to a voodoo doll. The doll will then follow the player for the rest of the game, and the Puppeteer will teleport away to a random location. The doll can be kicked like a soccer ball can be, by both players and monsters, when the doll is kicked by any monster (besides Hygroderes, the Jester, the Bracken, Earth Leviathans, Ghost Girl, the Cabinet, the Sandman (Bracken variant), or the Phantom (Ghost Girl variant), you will receive 25 damage, and you'll also take damage if a player attacks your doll. They can also make you take 50 damage to spike traps if one slams onto it, and they can blow up landmines if they step over them, which will instantly kill you. The only way to be rid of the Puppeteer's doll is to kill it, but be aware if you try to, when someone else is in its LoS, they will prioritize giving them a doll, and restore all damage dealt to them after teleporting away. They also only take one damage from any source of damage (besides spike traps), so shotguns will do almost nothing. When the Puppeteer is hit, they will begin attacking, but specifically will target the opposing player's voodoo doll and not them themselves. When the Puppeteer has one health left, they will begin shaking, they will stop after a while but if they are hit while shaking, you'll take damage. Additionally, two monsters will be summoned right next to the Puppeteer. One of them will always be a Masked, but the other can be multiple different things. 70% to just be another Masked, 20% to be a Nutcracker, 10% to be a Butler, 5% to be a Jester, and 1% to be a Barber. If you manage to kill the Puppeteer, they will drop the needle they use to give players voodoo dolls (and attack them) as a weapon, which is just a knife reskin. All voodoo dolls on the map also become a very valuable scrap item. If a player dies, the doll will die with them, and it can't be converted to a scrap at that point. They have a spawn cap of 1, power level of 4, and diversity level of 4.
Jinn
First of all, they have the same dithering effect Barbers do, you must listen to music it produces to know where it is before it's too close. When they spawn in, a cursed gramophone will at a random Loot Node alongside them. To get rid of the Jinn, you have to find this gramophone and begin winding it, which will take a fair bit of time to do, the gramophone will have whispers coming from it for you to be able to track its location. The Jinn will immediately rush towards the gramophone once someone interacts with it to stop them. You can shine a flashlight at the Jinn to reduce their speed a lot, and make them unable to damage you, at the cost of the battery draining very quickly. When the Jinn is chasing a player, they will form a dust cloud at a specific spot to indicate they're teleporting to that spot, in an attempt to cut the player off, and they will do this until they fully lose them. If you successfully get rid of the Jinn, the gramophone becomes a fairly cheap scrap item, but the rapier the Jinn has also does, and is worth a fair bit more. It can be used as a weapon, which has longer range to hit monsters, but has a longer cooldown between each slash of it. They have a spawn cap of 1, power level of 2, and diversity level of 2.
Mannequin
It's a Coil-Head variant from Magic_Wesley's Decrepit Store interior. I thought it'd be fun to have this guy rarely spawn in at some places outside of the interior they come from. They are unfortunately completely silent aside from when they kill someone, but I hope it will still be balanced with a spawn cap of 1 and taking 4 diversity to exist. They also take just 1 power, unlike normal Coil-Heads taking 2.
Boom Variants
The following monsters all come from the mod "Boom Variants", and are all variants of vanilla game monsters and are not just skins. While their AI is fundamentally the same, the behavior in game is different, and some of them can be fairly challenging to survive. Also, probably a good time to mention I originally wrote custom bestiary entries with the differences included, but they for some reason have a large chunk cut off from the top, and adding characters or line breakers does nothing to it. You can still view the differences from the bestiaries at least, but I'm still putting them all here.

EXTRA WEATHER INFO
Slimy
It will cause the entire exterior - and only the exterior - of the moon to be covered in the same slime from the Backwater Gunkfish, forcing your movement outdoors to be effected by the ice physics of it. This weather cannot happen on Thallasic, Symbiosis, or Kiln.
EXTRA SCRAP/ITEMS INFO
Hand Grenade
Can be bought in the terminal store for 75 credits each without a sale. It can do a maximum of 12 damage to monsters, with the damage being based on how close to the center of the explosion the target is, and it will set Forest Giants on fire.
Doll
Causes the fear effect when stared at. It's good.
Spoon
Has the same function as a knife, but it does not deal damage to anything besides Tulip Snakes, Butlers, and players.
Umbrella
Functions as a weapon with a slightly shorter cooldown between swings.
Battery
On Determination, there is a battery you can grab that's worth money next to the main entrance. The podium the battery is on produces electricity that damages you and Eyeless Dogs that happen to walk nearby it, the battery itself does not do damage to you, and this is just here to clear this up. You can quickly grab the battery and take only one little sliver of damage, possibly none.
Detergent
Has the same functions as Weed Killer. Exclusive scrap to Zenit.
Gaz Pop soda bottle
Has the same functions as Spray Paint. Exclusive scrap to Zenit.
Radioactive Cell
When in your inventory for a small bit, you will start to take damage, and this damage will increase the longer it remains in your inventory. Exclusive scrap to Zenit.
Skull
Despite having a red scannode, it is still a scrap item, and doesn't do anything harmful to the player. This is just here to be clear about that. Exclusive scrap to Zenit.
Bloody Capsule
If this item is on the exterior of a moon, once it is 5 PM, it will gain a radius that does damage to anyone standing within it, and the radius doesn't stop if it's held/pocketed. Exclusive scrap to Wild East.
Crowbar
You can hit locked doors three times to unlock them with it, that's it, aside from it dealing damage to monsters. I tried to make it basically worthless to continue using outside of nearby locked doors spawning, by making it decently heavy. Exclusive scrap to Wild East.
Irradiated Bar, Dust Pan, Egg Beater, & Steering Wheel
They don't do anything, I'm only typing this to make that clear, since the Radioactive Cell does do something. Normally, their value is supposed to decay the longer they exist outside of the ship, and stop decaying once collected. However, this only works when the unused Radiation weather is active, so they will just do nothing and stay at whatever value they spawn with. These exclusively only spawn on Zenit/Wild East
