README

Scare Crow

Adds a new hostile outdoor entity to Lethal Company: The Scare Crow.

The Scare Crow can be found wandering around outside on certain moons. Once it notices an employee, it will begin chasing them down with its scythe. If it catches you, it will grab you and attempt to kill you.

But killing it isn't always the end of the problem.

Every time the Scare Crow successfully kills an employee, it becomes faster and more aggressive. As it gets more kills, its attack cooldown becomes shorter until it can eventually kill employees almost instantly.

The longer you let it hunt, the more dangerous it becomes.

Scare crows are biomechanical predators most commonly found in open environments and its home planet is "Grand". Their bodies are composed primarily of wood and an unknown organic material, with various mechanical components integrated throughout their anatomy. Despite their wooden composition, they are remarkably durable and capable of moving with considerable speed. Their construction is unlike any machine I have encountered before, as there does not appear to be any obvious creator or purpose behind them. They seem to exist almost entirely for hunting.

Scare crows are permanently hostile toward employees and will pursue anything they identify as prey. Rather than immediately attacking their victims with a weapon, they will attempt to grab and restrain them. Once they have their target in their grasp, they will strangle them to death. This seems to be their preferred method of killing, and they will continue holding on even when their victim is struggling violently. I have no idea why they bother doing this when they could probably kill someone much faster.

The strangest part comes after a successful kill. Following the death of an employee, the scare crow becomes noticeably faster. This change appears to happen almost immediately, and the creature will begin pursuing its next target with much greater speed. Each subsequent victim seems to make it faster still. There is no evidence that this increase eventually stops, meaning a scare crow that has already killed several employees should be considered an extreme threat. At its most aggressive, it can move fast enough that outrunning it becomes nearly impossible.

For this reason, the first employee killed by a scare crow may be the most important one. If you see one of your crew members being grabbed, DO NOT WAIT AROUND TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. Get away from it before it finishes the job.

I have absolutely no desire to find out how fast one of these things can get
