Pocket Heads
Keep a fallen teammate close. Pocket Heads lets you carry their head in one of R.E.P.O.'s three normal inventory slots, leaving your hands free for hauling valuables.
Each stored head gets a 2D portrait of its actual appearance and colour in your inventory.
How to use
- Grab a fallen teammate's head.
- Press an empty inventory slot's key (normally 1, 2, or 3) to pocket it.
- Press the slot's key again to take the head out.
- Place the head at extraction and revive your teammate using the game's normal rules.
One head uses one normal inventory slot. Take the head out before revival; a pocketed head does not count at extraction.
Installation
Use r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager, select R.E.P.O., and install PocketHeads with its dependencies. Launch the game through your mod manager's modded launch option.
For manual installation, install BepInExPack 5.4.2305 first, then copy this package's BepInEx/plugins/PocketHeads folder into your game's BepInEx/plugins folder. Restart the game after updating.
Multiplayer and head vision
Install the mod on every player for the intended behavior. A modded player uses normal spectator mode while their head is pocketed. Head vision becomes available again when the head is taken out.
Host-only pocketing has worked in a multiplayer test, but mixed modded/unmodded lobbies have a known limitation: an unmodded dead player can still activate head vision while their head is pocketed. Their camera may follow the hidden head outside the map and show darkness or the void. This release does not fix head vision for unmodded players.
Compatibility and beta status
Version 0.1.1 is the first public beta, built against R.E.P.O. 0.4.4.3 (Steam build 23363152).
- Supports the three standard inventory slots.
- Includes recovery handling intended to release a stored head if its carrier dies or disconnects; these edge cases still need broader multiplayer testing.
- Heads are temporary level objects, not shop items or persistent saved inventory.
- Compatibility with inventory expansion and keep-inventory mods is unverified.
- Avoid combining this with another mod that makes heads into inventory items.
Build, game startup, patch attachment, and portrait rendering checks have passed. Pocketing has been tested in multiplayer, but the full range of host/client, revival, level-transition, and disconnect scenarios has not been systematically verified.
If you report a problem, include your game version, mod version, whether you were the host, which players had the mod, and any other inventory or head mods in use.
