Smooth Motion

README

Smooth Motion

Stick Fight's physics runs at 60 steps a second. At normal speed the game draws every body exactly where the last step left it, so on a screen faster than 60 Hz (or with the frame rate unlocked) players, weapons and props move in small jumps. The game already smooths this out in slow motion, which is why slowed or sped-up rounds look so fluid.

This mod keeps that smoothing on all the time: everything is drawn between physics steps, at your full frame rate.

  • Physics is not changed at all: same speed, jumps, punches, bullets and knockback as vanilla.
  • Works with gamepads and keyboard, local and online (it only changes how things are drawn).
  • Lower input lag: the graphics card queues one frame instead of two, so the picture shows up sooner and makes up for the smoothing's small delay.
  • Best on 120 Hz+ screens. Set the game's frame rate option to your refresh rate or unlimited. At 60 Hz there's little to see.

One setting, Enabled (on), in BepInEx\config\stickfight.smoothmotion.cfg, or MODS in the pause menu with Menu Overhaul. Off = the game's own behaviour, switched live.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

1.1.1

  • Fixed weapons sometimes shooting up into the air at crazy speed. The smoothing made a falling weapon's hover push misfire.
  • Less CPU: new bodies are picked up as they spawn instead of by a scan five times a second (small hitches on busy maps).

1.1.0

  • Lower input lag: the graphics card queues one frame instead of two, so the picture shows up sooner. Makes up for the smoothing's small delay.

1.0.0

  • First release.
