BeastTribes Reimagined
Based on the original Beast Tribes mod. Full credit for the original work goes to EosFoxx, Snarling Fox and DerSpieleentwickler. This is a standalone rework; install Reimagined by itself, without the original Beast Tribes mod or its compatibility shim.
Play as a fox, grey fox, wolf, lynx, leopard, panther, snow leopard, lizard or dragon. The rework brings digitigrade feet, reshaped armor, Vanity and transmog support, moving tails and ears, dragon wings, and hairstyle-specific positioning. Both body types are supported. Beast skills and perks carry over, including lizard diving and dragon flight.
Choose your species
Choose a species on the character creation screen and see its bonuses before creating your character. The choice is saved with that character and locked after creation. Existing characters without a saved species get a one-time choice on the character selection screen.
Press B in game to see your species, bonuses and settings. On a single-player world, or as a server admin, you can change a species with the console commands below. A server admin can also allow everyone to change their own species from the B menu with beastTribes.allowSpeciesChange true; the default is locked.
beastTribes.speciesMenu Open the admin species editor for yourself
beastTribes.speciesMenu "Player Name" Edit an online player's species
beastTribes.setSpecies "Player Name" lynx Set an online player's species directly
beastTribes.players List online players and their IDs
beastTribes.setSpecies #123456:42 viking Use an ID when names are duplicated
beastTribes.listSpecies List available species and aliases
beastTribes.allowSpeciesChange true Allow players to change their own species
beastTribes.allowSpeciesChange false Lock player changes again
Run these from the in-game console or, for direct commands, the dedicated-server console. Admin commands require server admin rights. Names with spaces need quotes; #id values change when a character reconnects or respawns. Species changes are saved to the character.
Hair positioning
Adjust hair forward/back, up/down and left/right during character creation. The position updates in the preview and is saved separately for each character, species, body type and hairstyle. Switching hairstyles restores each one's saved position. Hair movement does not move the beard.
You can also change the current hairstyle's position in game with BepInEx Configuration Manager, if installed, or edit the mod's config files manually. The current editor is on the character creation screen; a barber station editor may come later.
Armor and Vanity
Supported armor sets use beast-shaped models, including digitigrade leg armor. The rendered Vanity choice is used for armor fitting, so transmogs are supported. Azu Extended Player Inventory is supported, including its Vanity slots and beast character preview.
Requirements
- BepInExPack for Valheim
- Jotunn (JVL) 2.30 or newer
- Optional: BepInEx Configuration Manager for editing offsets and physics settings in game
- Optional: Azu Extended Player Inventory for its inventory and Vanity features
Use the same Reimagined version on the server and participating clients. Dynamic Bone is included in the plugin; no separate download is needed. The menu and settings are available in English, French, German, Portuguese (Brazil) and Russian.
Known issues
- Roughly a third of the armor sets have been reshaped for beast bodies so far. The rest can clip or retain their human shape. More sets are in progress, with an estimated 1 to 4 weeks for the current pass.
- Lizards and dragons have differently shaped feet. They do not have separate foot armor models yet, so foot armor can clip.
- Some textures have small imperfections. I am still learning the modeling work and plan to fix them.
- Tail, ear and wing physics on ragdolls still need tuning and may change in a future update.
