This mod requires the following mods to function
denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim
BepInEx pack for Valheim. Preconfigured with the correct entry point for mods and preferred defaults for the community.
Preferred version: 5.4.2350ValheimModding-Jotunn
Jötunn (/ˈjɔːtʊn/, 'giant'), the Valheim Library was created with the goal of making the lives of mod developers easier. It enables you to create mods for Valheim using an abstracted API so you can focus on the actual content creation.
Preferred version: 2.30.0README
Mímir's Well
One window for your whole storage. Build the well, bind rune chests around it, and see, search and take everything they hold from a single place — without the well ever storing a thing itself.
In the spirit of Applied Energistics 2 or Simple Storage for Minecraft, but kept inside Valheim's own logic and its own interface.
What it does
- Mímir's Well shows the contents of every rune chest around it in one window.
- Stacks are merged: 143 wood is one slot, even though the stack limit is 50. The chests keep ordinary stacks.
- Search by name, filter by category, sort by name, amount or weight.
- The window is the game's own container window, so drag and drop, stack splitting, transfer with Ctrl and item tooltips all work as they do everywhere else.
- Only rune chests join. Personal chests, loot chests and other players' chests stay untouched.
- Everything stays local: no items cross the map, so the portal restriction on ores remains intact.
Building it
| Piece | Station | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Mímir's Well | Workbench | Stone 20, Fine wood 10, Greydwarf eye 10, Surtling core 2 |
| Rune chest | Workbench | Wood 10, Fine wood 4, Greydwarf eye 2 |
| Bound rune chest | Workbench | Fine wood 10, Iron 2, Ancient bark 4 |
| Blackmetal rune chest | Forge | Blackmetal 6, Fine wood 10, Tar 2, Surtling core 1 |
Rune chests hold exactly what the vanilla chest they are based on holds. The network is the reward, not extra space.
The rune chisel
A tool made at the workbench from Fine wood 10, Bronze 3, Greydwarf eye 10 and a Surtling core.
Hold it and press use on a chest that already stands to carve it into the rune chest of its own tier, contents included. That is all it does: it does not raise a chest to a higher tier, so the iron and blackmetal those cost still have to be paid by building them.
Multiplayer
While the window is open, the well takes ownership of each bound chest and marks it as held, so no one else can move items in it at the same time. Chests another player is using are skipped and counted in the window. A hold carries a timestamp and expires by itself, so a disconnect cannot leave a chest locked.
The mod is required on the server and on every client (EveryoneMustHaveMod, minor version
strictness). The network radius is server-synced and admin-only.
Configuration
BepInEx/config/benka.MimirsWell.cfg
Network.Radius(default 20 m) — how far from the well chests are bound. Beyond the loaded area a chest cannot be reached at all, which is what this limit reflects.Window.Columns(default 8) — slots per row in the well window.Window.MaxRows(default 10) — the smallest height the window keeps; it grows beyond this as needed and the grid scrolls.Visuals.RuneGlow(default true) — bound chests glow faintly.
Compatibility
Built against Valheim 1.0.12, BepInEx 5.4.23 and Jötunn 2.30. Tested alongside AzuCraftyBoxes, which can craft straight from rune chests since they are ordinary containers, and Mouse Tweaks, whose bulk transfer works in the well window.
