This mod requires the following mods to function
denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim
BepInEx pack for Valheim. Preconfigured with the correct entry point for mods and preferred defaults for the community.
Preferred version: 5.4.2350ValheimModding-Jotunn
Jötunn (/ˈjɔːtʊn/, 'giant'), the Valheim Library was created with the goal of making the lives of mod developers easier. It enables you to create mods for Valheim using an abstracted API so you can focus on the actual content creation.
Preferred version: 2.30.0README
HoverInfo
Look at something and it tells you how long it still needs. Cooking, growing, fermenting, smelting, respawning, taming — the timers the game keeps to itself are written into the hover text, under the object's name and above the key hints.
No HUD, no window, no extra key: the text you already read simply says more.
What it shows
| You look at | It says |
|---|---|
| Cooking station, oven | time left for every slot, paused when the fire is out, burns in for food that is done, and how long the oven's fuel lasts |
| Saplings and crops | Grows in 12m 30s (40%), any moment once it is due, and a warning when it is due but will not grow |
| Picked bushes, mushrooms, flowers | time until they come back |
| Fermenter | time until the mead is ready (nothing while it stands without a roof — the game restarts that timer anyway) |
| Smelter, charcoal kiln, blast furnace, spinning wheel, windmill, eitr refinery | the next item, the whole queue, No fuel / No wind / Smoke is blocked, when the fuel runs out and how much is missing to finish the queue |
| Beehive, sap extractor | time to the next unit and time until it is full |
| Fires, torches, braziers | how long the fuel lasts (paused when the fire is out, wet or blocked) |
| Warm chicken egg | time until it hatches |
| Tamed and wild creatures | taming time left, how long they stay fed, love points and the timer to the offspring, time until a cub is grown |
Every formula follows the vanilla update method it describes, read from the game's own code, so the numbers are the ones the game is actually counting — not an estimate.
Installation
Client only. The server does not need it, and neither do the other players. It reads values that every client already receives and writes nothing at all, so it works on vanilla and on modded servers alike.
- Install BepInExPack Valheim and Jötunn.
- Drop
CDEV.HoverInfo.dllintoBepInEx/plugins/CDEV.HoverInfo/, or let a mod manager do it.
Settings — BepInEx/config/cdev.hoverinfo.cfg
[General] Enabled turns every line off at once. Each source has its own switch in [Sources]:
CookingStations, Plants, Pickables, Fermenters, Smelters, Beehives, SapCollectors,
Fireplaces, Eggs, Creatures. Turn off whatever you would rather not read.
Good to know
- Nothing is written, nothing is sent, no gameplay value changes. Turning the mod off leaves no trace.
- On an object owned by another player the value arrives with the game's normal sync, so a timer can be up to one update behind (1–10 seconds depending on the object).
- Valheim 1.0, BepInEx 5.4.23, Jötunn 2.30.
