Foresight Forge (Völva's Eye & Altar of Potential)
Foresight Forge unveils the hidden threads of fate governing Valheim's Forge of Potential. Through the mystical gaze of Völva's Eye, players gain clairvoyant insight into impending weapon and armor upgrades, enjoy tier-scaled 4-way refinement outcomes instead of punitive binary breaks, and can transmute surplus lower-tier idols into higher-tier catalysts directly at the altar.

👁️ Völva's Eye Prophecy Banner
Whenever you place gear and an idol into the Altar of Potential, the Völva's Prophecy Banner appears above your forge station to reveal what lies ahead:
- Upgrade Foresight: See exactly how many guaranteed successful upgrades you will achieve before hitting a failure (e.g. "Sees 3 upgrades!").
- Hazard Warning: When an upgrade is destined to fail, the seer warns you of the exact outcome before you swing your hammer:
- RESIST (Safe): The failure holds firm—your gear takes no damage and loses no quality; only the idol is consumed.
- WARNING (Downgrade): The gear will drop by 1 quality level on failure.
- DOOM (Shatter): The gear will shatter and be permanently destroyed on failure.
⚖️ Fairer Tier-Scaled Upgrades
Vanilla upgrading can feel brutal when high-value gear suddenly shatters. Foresight Forge introduces an authentic RPG progression where early gear is protected and endgame gear demands brave choices:

(Early-tier failures almost always resist harm, giving you room to grow without losing your favorite gear. Prefer the original harsh system? You can switch back to Vanilla mode anytime in the config.)
🔮 Idol Combining (Altar Craft Tab)
Have a chest full of low-tier idols you no longer use? The Craft tab at the Altar of Potential allows you to combine surplus idols into higher tiers:
- Battle Idols (Weapons) and Protection Idols (Armor).
- Exchange Rate: Combine 3 lower-tier idols to forge 1 next-tier idol (Wood → Bronze → Iron → Silver → Black Metal → Marble → Flametal → Bloodgold).
- Natural Discovery: Recipes only appear in your crafting menu once you have discovered the required materials during your playthrough.
💬 Chat & Console Commands
You can use these commands in normal in-game chat or the F5 console:

Configuration
A configuration file is generated at BepInEx/config/ForesightForge.cfg on first launch:
- ModEnabled (
true/false, default:true): Enable or disable the mod. - OutcomeMode (
TierScaled/Vanilla, default:TierScaled): Choose between the new 4-way tier-scaled progression or the original vanilla failure behavior. - EnableAltarEffects (
true/false, default:true): Toggle visual and sound effects when forging. - EnableIdolTransmutation (
true/false, default:true): Enable or disable idol combining in the Craft tab. - IdolUpgradeRatio (range:
1to10, default:3): Number of lower-tier idols required to craft the next tier.
Installation
Using a Mod Manager (Recommended)
- Install via Thunderstore Mod Manager or Gale.
- Launch the game through your manager.
Manual Install
- Ensure BepInExPack Valheim (5.4.2333 or newer) is installed.
- Download and unzip the archive.
- Place
ForesightForge.dllinto yourValheim/BepInEx/plugins/folder.
Multiplayer Compatibility
