README

You're Cold

Part of the Scavengers Survival Series for Valheim.

You're Cold makes exposure matter. The goal is not constant punishment; it is to make fire, shelter, dry clothing, daylight, and sensible travel feel valuable.

What it adds

  • A 0–100 body-temperature system.
  • Cooling from wetness, swimming, cold weather, freezing weather, night, Mountains, and Deep North exposure.
  • Warmth from fire, shelter, dry conditions, and safer environments.
  • Stamina loss at severe cold and mild freezing damage only at the lowest temperature.
  • An optional low-temperature breath warning.
  • A body-temperature HUD with a movable/resizable layout editor.

Controls

  • K — Enter or leave the Body Temp HUD layout editor.
    • Drag the panel to move it.
    • Drag a gold corner handle to resize it.
  • F9 — Write diagnostics to BepInEx/LogOutput.log.
  • F10 — Toggle the cold system for the current session.
  • Ctrl + F3 — Hide or restore the mod HUD along with Valheim's HUD toggle.

Configuration

  • General > Enabled turns the cold system and its penalties on or off.
  • HUD > ShowTemperatureBar hides only the Body Temp HUD.
  • HUD > HideHudWithCtrlF3 controls whether Ctrl + F3 hides this HUD.
  • Audio, temperature rates, biome effects, shelter effects, and penalties can all be adjusted.

Installation

  1. Install through Thunderstore/r2modman, or install BepInExPack for Valheim manually.
  2. Place YoureCold.dll in BepInEx/plugins/YoureCold/.
  3. Place cold breath.mp3 in BepInEx/plugins/YoureCold/assets/audio/ when using the included low-temperature warning.
  4. Launch Valheim once to create the config file.

Multiplayer

Use the same version for the people playing together so everyone is playing under the same survival rules.
