Weapon Oils

Weapon oils (blade oil, weapon coating), like meads for your blade: 12 oils imbue a melee weapon or bare fists with fire, frost, poison, lightning, life steal and more. Brewed at the cauldron, matured in an oil press. Glowing, animated.

CHANGELOG

1.0.0

  • First release.
  • Twelve weapon oils, at least one per biome, each made from its biome's materials and opened by the boss before it.
  • Brewed like mead: an oil base at the cauldron, matured in a new oil press into four oils.
  • Fire, frost (with a chill that slows), poison, lightning, physical, resistance-piercing and spirit damage, cheaper swings, slower wear with harder chopping and mining, life steal, harder stagger and a stronger block (shield included). Every bonus is a share of the weapon's own damage, so oils keep their worth as weapons improve.
  • Oils last 20 minutes of world time; one at a time (a server setting allows replacing).
  • Melee weapons only: bows, crossbows and staffs refuse oil, while spears (which stab first) take it.
  • An oiling animation for every kind of melee weapon: one-handed weapons, a blade in each hand (Skoll and Hati, the Berserkir axes), greatswords, battleaxes, atgeirs and sledges, claws and bare hands.
  • A glow and particles in the oil's colour on the weapon in hand, on the back and on the ground (on both blades of a dual weapon, on both hands for claws and bare fists).
  • Oil on bare hands: punches carry it, both hands glow, and a status icon shows the time left. It survives logging out and is lost on death.
  • Oiled weapons show a drop marker in the bag and hotbar; the tooltip names the oil and the minutes left; upgrading keeps the oil.
  • Hand-made bottles, mortars and press in the game's style, with icons drawn from them.
  • Settings in F1 (sounds are Advanced); the server decides the oils, the press and every recipe.
  • English, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Turkish and Chinese.
