PocketObliterator
In testing. This first version is still being tried out in-game. Tell us if something looks off.
Made with AI. Written with the help of an AI (Claude) and flagged AI Generated on Thunderstore. It is tested in a real game, but read the Not tested yet section.
The Obliterator, in your pocket. Click it in your inventory, drop in everything you want gone, close your inventory, and it is all destroyed in a flash of lightning.
What it does
- A new button in your inventory, between the armor and weight tiles (where a trash can mod would sit). Click it and an Obliterator window opens under your inventory, like a chest.
- Drop anything in it. Drag, stack and split like any chest. Items in it are not destroyed yet.
- Close your inventory and they are gone. Lightning strikes at your feet, using the game's own Obliterator lightning, with its sound and light. Nothing happens if the window is empty.
- The zap is optional. By default you take the damage you would take standing next to the real Obliterator, and it can never take your last health. Everything is in F1 (see below).
- Safe by design. Dying or logging out with items in the window gives them back instead of destroying them. Opening a chest or another window while it is open closes it first (destroying what is in it).
Settings (F1)
| Section | Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 - Lightning | Strike | on | Lightning strikes you when it closes. Off = items just vanish |
| 1 - Lightning | Damage | on | The strike hurts you. Off = lightning for show |
| 1 - Lightning | Damage multiplier | 1 | 1 = same as standing next to the real Obliterator. 0 = none, 2 = double |
| 1 - Lightning | Can kill you | off | Off = the strike never takes your last health. On = it can |
| 1 - Lightning | Shock bystanders | off | Other players right next to you get zapped too (never lethal). For laughs |
| 2 - Button | Offset X / Offset Y | 0 / 0 | Moves the button. Handy if another mod uses the same spot |
Without a Configuration Manager mod the settings are in BepInEx/config/com.laoch.pocketobliterator.cfg.
Good to know
- Armor counts. The damage goes through the game's normal damage rules, so armor and lightning resistance reduce it, exactly as if you stood next to a real Obliterator. Armor wears a little, too.
- TrashItems (and other mods that add a button in the same spot) will overlap with this one. Use Offset X / Y to move this button.
- Only the window is yours. The lightning is a normal game object, so other players see it without having the mod.
Multiplayer
Only you need it. Nobody else has to install it, and neither does the server. Other players see the lightning and hear it; with Shock bystanders on, players standing within about two metres of you take a (non-lethal) zap, which also works without the mod on their side.
Not tested yet
Gamepad use, and more than one player standing next to the strike (the bystander option). Both are expected to work; neither has been tried with real people.
Install
Use r2modman / Thunderstore Mod Manager, or drop PocketObliterator.dll into BepInEx/plugins/PocketObliterator/.
