ReadyWhen

ReadyWhen provides clean, accurate live timers and countdown readouts for all crafting, smelting, cooking, agriculture, and livestock processes in Valheim directly on hover.

Eliminate the guesswork. Never burn another loaf of bread, lose meat to coal, wonder if your hearth will survive the night, or stare at a tamed wolf wonder when it will finish.

Features

🌋 Smelters, Blast Furnaces & Charcoal Kilns

• Current Item Timer: Shows the remaining seconds until the active item finishes smelting.
• Full Queue Timer: Displays the total time remaining to finish the entire stack in the smelter.
• Queue Inventory Breakdown: Shows an itemized preview of queued ores (e.g., Queue (3x Copper Ore, 2x Tin Ore): 01:45).
• Fuel Shortage Alerts: Calculates whether current coal/fuel is sufficient to finish all queued ores and warns you in advance if more fuel is required (e.g., Warning: Needs 4 more Coal).
• Operational Diagnostics: Warns if a smelter cannot run due to missing roof, blocked smoke, or 0 fuel.

🌾 Windmills

• Dynamic Wind Scaling: Unlike standard smelters, Windmills process barley flour at speeds directly determined by wind strength. ReadyWhen dynamically divides remaining time by current wind power output for real-time accuracy.
• Calm Weather Warning: Displays Windmill: Paused (No wind) when wind is calm or obstructed.

🥩 Cooking Stations & Spits

• Per-Slot Cook Countdown: Displays an exact countdown for each physical slot on cooking spits and iron cooking racks (e.g., Slot 1 (Deer Meat): Cooks in 00:20).
• Burn & Overcook Warnings: When food finishes cooking, immediately switches to a critical warning showing time until it burns into coal (e.g., Slot 1 (Cooked Deer Meat): Ready! BURNS IN 00:25!).
• Unlit Fire Alert: Warns if raw food is sitting on a rack without an active fire lit beneath it.

🍞 Stone Ovens

• Baking Countdown: Displays live bake timers for bread dough, lox pies, and other oven recipes.
• Burn Alerts: Warns when baked goods are done and counts down before they burn.
• Wood Fuel Readout: Displays current wood fuel level and remaining burn time duration (e.g., Wood: 8/10 (08:00)).

🐝 Beehives

• Honey Production Timer: Live countdown until the next honeycomb is produced.
• Max Capacity Timer: Displays total time until the hive reaches full capacity (e.g., Time to 4/4: 01:20:00).
• Nighttime Sleeping Countdown: When night falls, bees sleep. ReadyWhen displays The bees are sleeping (nighttime) with a live countdown to dawn (Daylight in: 04:15).
• Open Space Warning: Warns if bees need more open space and pauses timers accordingly.

🍷 Fermenters & 🌲 Sap Collectors

• Fermenter Progress: Shows remaining time until mead batches finish brewing.
• Sap Extraction: Shows time until the next sap drops and estimated time until full capacity (10/10).

🥚 Egg Incubation

• Hatching Countdown: Hover over chicken eggs to see the exact time until hatching.
• Warmth & Space Checks: Warns if the egg is cold (Needs warmth / fire) or if too many eggs are clustered together (Too crowded).

🔥 Fireplaces, Hearths & Torches

• Burn-Out Countdown: Hover over Campfires, Hearths, Braziers, Sconces, and Torches to see exactly how long the current fuel stack will last.
• Weather & Smoke Alerts: Alerts if a fire is actively smothered by rain or smothered by blocked smoke.

🐺 Live Taming Timers

• Time Remaining: Hover over Boars, Wolves, or Lox to see the estimated time countdown until fully tamed (e.g., Tamed in: 15:30).
• Pause Detection: Automatically turns warning red and notifies you if taming is halted (e.g., Tamed in: 15:30 (Paused - Frightened) or Tamed in: 15:30 (Paused - Hungry)).

Configuration

All features are fully configurable in BepInEx/config/com.jubaroo.readywhen.cfg. You can edit this file manually with a text editor or in-game using the BepInEx Configuration Manager.

Formatting Options

• TimeFormatStyle: Choose your preferred countdown format:
  • Digital (Default): 02:15:30
  • Written: 2h 15m 30s
  • Minimal: 2h 15m

Color Customization

Supports standard color names (yellow, red, orange, green, cyan, white) or hex color codes (#FFFF00, #FF5555, #00FFFF):

• TimerColor: Color of active timers (Default: yellow)
• WarningColor: Color of critical warnings like low fuel or burning food (Default: red)
• InfoColor: Color of secondary details like queue contents and fuel levels (Default: #00FFFF)

Installation

Via Mod Manager (Recommended)

1. Install Gale, Thunderstore Mod Manager, or r2modman.
2. Search for ReadyWhen and click Download with Mod Manager.

Manual Installation

1. Ensure BepInExPack Valheim is installed.
2. Download the ReadyWhen.zip archive.
3. Extract ReadyWhen.dll into your Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/ directory.
4. Launch the game!

Compatibility & Multiplayer

• Client-Side: ReadyWhen is purely a client-side mod. It reads networked game data synced by the server and formats hover tooltips on your HUD.
• Server-Safe: You can play on vanilla or modded dedicated servers without the server needing the mod installed.
• Controller Support: Fully compatible with gamepads and keyboard/mouse setups.
