Portal Recall

RamPortalRecall by JustinRampage makes Valheim's regular wooden portals completely free to build. Stop carrying Fine Wood, Greydwarf Eyes, and Surtling Cores just to get home.

Features

• Free wooden portals. The standard wooden portal (portal_wood) costs zero resources. Stone portals, modded portals, and all other building pieces retain their normal material costs.
• Optional workbench-free building. Disable the nearby workbench requirement for building pieces that normally require a wooden workbench. Stonecutter, Forge, and other crafting-station requirements remain unchanged.
• Configurable. Keep the normal wooden workbench proximity requirement if you prefer; wooden portals remain free either way.

Configuration

After launching Valheim once with the mod installed, find:

BepInEx/config/justinrampage.portalrecall.cfg

In the [Building] section:

RequireWorkbench = false

• false (default): Removes the nearby wooden workbench requirement for applicable building pieces.
• true: Keeps normal wooden workbench proximity requirements.

Wooden portals cost zero resources with either setting. Restart Valheim after changing the setting.

• Valheim 1.0.20 (version tested)
• BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2351 (version tested)

RamPortalRecall is client-side only. Players who want its features should install it on their own computers. Do not install it on the dedicated server. The mod does not synchronize its configuration or enforce building restrictions for other players.

Installation

Gale / r2modman / Thunderstore Mod Manager

Install RamPortalRecall and its BepInEx dependency through your mod manager, then launch Valheim modded.

Replacing the older PortalRecall package? Disable or uninstall the old PortalRecall package before enabling RamPortalRecall. Both packages contain the same internal BepInEx plugin ID, justinrampage.portalrecall, and must not be enabled together. This is a package rename; the gameplay DLL is unchanged from PortalRecall 1.0.1.

Manual installation

1. Install BepInExPack Valheim.
2. Place PortalRecall.dll in the active profile's BepInEx/plugins/RamPortalRecall/ folder (or another BepInEx plugins subfolder).
3. Launch Valheim modded.

• The free-portal change applies only to the standard wooden portal (portal_wood).
• Other mods and world settings can affect placement restrictions.
• The RequireWorkbench setting affects applicable wooden-workbench proximity checks, not other crafting stations.
• The internal plugin ID remains justinrampage.portalrecall to retain the existing configuration file.
