This mod requires the following mods to function
denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim

Preferred version: 5.4.2350Azumatt-AzuExtendedPlayerInventory
AzuEPI (Extended Player Inventory) is a comprehensive inventory expansion mod that adds more rows to inventory, equipment slots, quick slots, vanity customization, and loadout management to Valheim. Controller friendly.
Preferred version: 2.4.14README
Permanent Meals
Commit a full stack of food to a permanent meal and keep its food bonuses without repeatedly eating.
Beta 0.4.1. Adds three meal slots directly to AzuExtendedPlayerInventory's equipment layout.
How it works
- Pick up a full stack of food from your inventory and left-click an empty meal slot.
- The whole stack is locked away. It cannot be withdrawn, crafted with, traded, or eaten manually.
- The meal maintains that food's full health, stamina, eitr, and normal food regeneration. Status effects still modify regeneration normally.
- The three meals use Valheim's normal three-food allowance. Existing temporary food can occupy that allowance; duplicate foods are rejected.
- Invalid placements show Azu's red crossed-out indicator, including incomplete stacks and non-food items.
- Meal records are saved with your character and designed to survive logout and death.
Replacing meals
Right-click a locked meal to spend one Bukeperry from your inventory and clear only that slot. The stored food is destroyed. Put down any held item first.
Without a Bukeperry, nothing changes and a short warning appears.
Eat Bukeperries normally to clear all stored meals. No stored food is refunded.
Installation
Install with a Thunderstore-compatible mod manager. Required dependencies are declared in the package:
- BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350
- AzuExtendedPlayerInventory 2.4.14
Keep Azu's equipment slots enabled, then launch the game modded. The slots are named Permanent Meal 1, Permanent Meal 2, and Permanent Meal 3. Their placement follows Azu's layout settings.
For manual installation, install those dependencies first, then copy this package's BepInEx folder into your game or mod profile folder.
Jotunn is not required. Do not install multiple copies of PermanentMeals.dll.
Beta status and compatibility
Full disclosure: this mod was heavily vibe-coded with AI assistance. I'm learning as I go, so apologies in advance for any rough edges or bugs. Please treat it as a beta, back up your character, and share clear reproduction steps if something breaks.
- Built against Azu 2.4.14 and the developer's installed Valheim assemblies. Later game or Azu updates may require a mod update.
- Basic inventory-slot behavior has been tested by the author. Full regression testing across every feature and configuration is still pending.
- Multiplayer is untested. The mod is client-side and has no server-side enforcement. Do not assume server or cross-mod compatibility.
- Mouse controls are supported. Controller support is unverified; touch-specific direct drops are blocked.
- Other mods that change food or equipment slots may conflict.
- Back up your character and use a test character first: deposits intentionally spend entire stacks.
Updating and uninstalling
Close Valheim before replacing the DLL. Existing Permanent Meals save records from earlier versions remain compatible.
Removing the mod stops permanent refreshing and does not refund deposited food. To leave empty meal records, clear your meals with Bukeperries before uninstalling. Missing modded-food prefabs retain their saved record for later recovery.
Troubleshooting
If the slots are missing, confirm that Azu and Permanent Meals are enabled and inspect BepInEx/LogOutput.log for loading errors. Include your Valheim version, Azu version, mod version, and reproduction steps when reporting a problem.
