README

TeleportBoats

Bring your nearest boat through a portal with a shortcut. Place your destination near clear water so there’s room for it to arrive. Compatible with Valheim 1.0 (Deep North).

Teleport Boats in action

Default Left Shift + B: Hover over a portal or dungeon entrance to bring your nearest unoccupied boat.

TeleportBoats moves your nearby unoccupied boat after you arrive at an allowed portal or dungeon transition. A safe landing requires water.

  • Bring an unoccupied boat with a shortcut.
  • Choose server limits for boat search and landing distance.
  • Leave your boat safe when the destination has no clear-water landing.

The shortcut hint appears only at a usable entrance when both server settings and your personal settings allow that transition. Pressing the shortcut checks the nearest eligible boat again.

Getting started

Install BepInExPack for Valheim and install TeleportBoats on the server and participating clients. Gale can install from the Hexium and Thunderstore catalogs. Add TeleportEverything for its in-game settings panel, or use the YAML editor.

For manual installation, place TeleportBoats.dll in Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/.

Change the shortcut in ConfigurationManager under Controls → Teleport Boat Hotkey.

Configuration

In-game settings

TeleportEverything adds an optional Boats page.

  • My Settings contains personal transport choices and the shortcut.
  • Server Settings controls boat transport, search distance, and landing limits. Only the host or a native server admin can save these settings.
  • Save module saves Boats settings; Save All saves changed module drafts in the current scope. Reset defaults stages default values; save afterward to apply them.

Search and landing limits

The server sets these distances. Defaults are:

  • 40 m maximum nearby-boat detection distance (SearchRadius).
  • 30 m maximum distance from the arriving player to the boat's landing center (Placement.Radius).
  • 5 m minimum forward landing offset (ForwardOffset); hull and player clearance can move the boat farther out.

Saved configurations retain their current values when defaults change. The boat needs clear water and enough room; rocks or other obstacles can block a landing. If no safe spot is found within the landing limit, your boat stays behind while you travel normally.

YAML files

  • Server policy: BepInEx/config/odinplus.TeleportBoats.server.yml
  • Local player preferences: BepInEx/config/odinplus.TeleportBoats.yml

Player preferences can opt out or restrict transitions, but may respect server policy. Invalid YAML keeps the last valid policy active.

Edit either file directly or open ConfigurationManager's YAML Editor button; only the server host can edit server policy.

Compatibility

Compatible Mod Info
Yes TeleportEverything / TeleportCarts / TeleportCreatures Modules can be installed together and own separate behavior.
Yes QuickTeleport Works alongside its transition settings.
Yes TargetPortal The selected destination is respected.

Troubleshooting

  • Boat stayed behind: check that an unoccupied boat was within the server's SearchRadius, boat transport is enabled, and the destination has clear water within Placement.Radius. The player still completes the normal teleport.
  • Water is nearby but the boat did not arrive: submerged rocks and other obstacles can block a safe landing. Try a portal closer to open water.
  • World settings prevent boat travel: noportals, or nobossportals during a boss event, can disable boat transport.
  • YAML was rejected: correct the file and save again. The last valid policy remains active.
