README

Odin's Reclaim

Break items you no longer need back into the materials they were made from.

What it adds

Reclaim tab — at a crafting station, a third tab sits next to Craft and Upgrade. It lists the items in your inventory that this station can break down. Pick one and press Reclaim: the item goes, half of its materials come back (the rate is a setting). Upgraded items also give back part of their upgrade materials, and items enchanted with Epic Loot also give back part of their enchanting materials. A stack (arrows, bolts) gives back its share of the batch it was crafted in. You need the same station, at the same level, that crafting or upgrading the item needs. After a reclaim nothing is selected, so a double-click can't take a second item.

Reclaim all (chests) — an open chest gets a recycle button next to Take all and Stack all. Click it, say Yes, and everything in the chest that can be broken down is; the materials stay in the chest. The right crafting station must be nearby. By default it only takes single items (weapons, armour, tools) and leaves stacks such as bronze or arrows alone. Drag the button to move it; it remembers where you left it. Chest rules can keep certain chests or groups out.

Trash can — a Trash tab hangs on the right of your inventory, between the armour and carry weight tabs and in the same style. Pick an item up (or split a stack), click the Trash tab, say Yes, and it's deleted. Anyone can use it. Players who may use the Delete key (admins, by default) also get the materials back.

Delete key — with the inventory open, point at an item and press Delete: the item is deleted, and if it has a recipe you know, all of its materials come back (stacks: at most half, see below). By default only server admins (and the host / single player) can use it, as in the old mod.

Trash marking — hold X and right-click items in your inventory to mark them with a red outline (drag with the right button held to mark several). Still holding X, middle click deletes every marked item. Let go of X to cancel.

Undo — Ctrl+Z, within 20 seconds, undoes the last reclaim, delete or trash: the item comes back exactly as it was and its materials are taken back. Press it again for the one before (up to 10). Chest reclaims can't be undone.

While the inventory is open, a small box under its bottom-right corner lists these controls (with your own keys), and the mod's messages appear on a strip at the top of the screen, above the inventory.

Item groups

Every item list in the settings (never reclaim, always allow, rate per item, chest rules) takes item names (SwordIron) and groups: All, Food, Potion, Fish, Swords, Axes, Clubs, Knives, Pickaxes, Polearms, Spears, Bows, Crossbows, Shields, Armor, Helmets, Ammunition, Utilities, Trinkets, Tools, Equipment, Trophy, Boss Trophy, Materials, Ores, Metals, Woods, Seeds, Crops, Miscellaneous, Customizations. Make your own in "Custom groups": Tier 2 = Bronze, PickaxeBronze; Starter = Club, Torch. Examples:

  • Never reclaim: Tools, Metals — Always allow: PickaxeBronze
  • Return rate per item: Armor=0.75, SwordBronze=1
  • Chest rules: piece_chest_private: All; piece_chest_wood: Swords, Bows

What it won't break down

  • Food and meads (items made at the cauldron, food preparation table or mead ketill).
  • Items whose recipe you don't know yet (a setting can allow them).
  • Quest items, items without a recipe (ores, metals, trophies, drops), and anything you list in the settings.
  • Equipped items and the hotbar row are hidden from the Reclaim tab (both settings).
  • Nothing comes back in worlds where crafting is free (the "no crafting cost" world setting).

Stacking items (bronze, nails, arrows) never give back more than half their materials, whatever the rate: crafting them at high skill gives bonus items, so a higher rate would make materials out of nothing (a setting).

Settings (F1)

Rules (return rates, item lists and groups, chest rules, stations, unknown recipes, Epic Loot, crafter name) are set by the server when it runs the mod, and only admins can change them. Keys, positions, colours and messages are each player's own. Every change works at once, keys included.

Multiplayer

Everything happens on the player's own computer, like crafting. The server's rules only apply when the server runs the mod too; on a server without it, each player's own settings count. Players without the mod can still join.

Compatibility

  • Works with Epic Loot (enchanted items give back their enchanting materials) and ExtraSlots.
  • Don't run it together with Recycle_N_Reclaim: both add a Reclaim tab and a Delete key.
  • The Reclaim tab, the chest button and the Trash tab need a mouse (no controller support yet).
