README

Horn of Heimdall / Рог Хеймдалля

Adds a craftable Horn of Heimdall — an item that lets you send two kinds of signals to nearby players:

  • Navigation call (default key: G) — a simple "I'm over here" signal other players can hear and reply to.
  • Battle alarm (Shift + G) — a louder signal that scares wildlife, aggravates nearby enemies, and grants a combat buff (stamina regen, reduced stamina drain, instant + bonus adrenaline) to every ally in range.

Sound is fully 3D and dynamic: distance falloff, low-pass filtering through obstacles, wind/rain dampening, an echo pass, and (in Simulation mode) an occasional acoustic-shadow effect when the horn is blown behind cover.

The mod automatically shows Russian text if your Valheim client's language is set to Russian, and English for everyone else — no extra setup needed.

Requirements

Both are installed automatically if you use a mod manager (r2modman / Thunderstore Mod Manager).

Crafting

Craftable at a Workbench (level 2+):

  • 2× Fine Wood
  • 1× Eikthyr trophy
  • 2–3× Leather Scraps
  • 2× Copper
  • Bronze (upgrades only, cost increases per quality level)

Controls & Config

Setting Default Description
ActivationKey G Key used to blow the horn (Shift+key for the battle alarm)
GlobalCooldown 3s Minimum time between any two horn uses
HornMode Simulation Sound behaviour: Arcade / Realistic / Simulation
MasterVolume 0.5 Overall horn volume
Navigation call radius, cooldown, durability cost configurable in the Navigation Call section
Battle alarm radius, cooldown, stamina/durability cost, buff strength & duration configurable in the Battle Alarm section
DebugLogging false Verbose debug logging (hand-position hierarchy, etc.) — leave off unless troubleshooting

Full list of options generates in your BepInEx config/ folder after first launch.

Notes on multiplayer behaviour

  • The battle alarm's buff applies to every ally within range who hears it, not just whoever blew the horn — everyone who receives the buff also starts their own cooldown on it.
  • The buff does not refresh/stack if the target already has it active.
  • Tamed animals are never scared or aggravated by the horn — only wild creatures and monsters react.

Known limitations

  • If an ally is standing within ~3m of whoever blows the horn, they may be treated as "the blower" for buff purposes and not get buffed themselves — a fix is planned.
