README

Epic Loot Chest Bridge

Lets Epic Loot's enchanting table pay its costs from nearby chests, using Valheim Plus's Craft From Chest.

While the enchanting table is open, every material cost counts and uses items in chests within Craft From Chest range. That covers enchanting, augmenting, disenchanting, sacrificing, rune work, conversions and table upgrades. Your inventory is always used first, and only the shortfall is taken from chests.

How it works

Epic Loot 0.14 has an official "inventory provider" API for exactly this. Whenever the table checks or charges a cost, it asks registered providers after checking your inventory. This mod registers a provider backed by Valheim Plus's own chest search, so it:

  • uses your [CraftFromChest] settings in Valheim Plus: range, ignorePrivateAreaCheck (wards), allowCraftingFromCarts / allowCraftingFromShips, and lookupInterval;
  • with checkFromWorkbench = true, measures the range from the enchanting table, otherwise from you;
  • does nothing if Craft From Chest is disabled in Valheim Plus.

It doesn't patch either mod.

What it doesn't do:

  • Chest items only count while the enchanting table is open. Epic Loot's adventure merchant, for example, still only uses what you carry.
  • Items in chests are never offered as things to enchant, sacrifice or disenchant. They're only used as materials.

Requirements

  • Epic Loot 0.14+ (RandyKnapp). Built against 0.14.13.
  • Valheim Plus (Grantapher) with [CraftFromChest] enabled = true. Built against 0.10.2.

If either is missing, or the API isn't there, it logs a warning and does nothing.

Install

In r2modman, go to Settings → Import local mod and pick EpicLootChestBridge-1.0.0.zip. It's client-side only.

Config

File: BepInEx/config/burksheim.epiclootchestbridge.cfg

  • [General] Enabled (default true)

Checking it works

The BepInEx log should show Enchanting table can now use materials from Valheim Plus Craft From Chest chests. at startup. Each time a cost is paid partly from chests, it logs Took N x <item> from nearby chests.
