Sonic Chest Filters

Spend less time searching storage and rearranging your gear. Sonic Chest Filters adds quick search, safe sorting, and useful stack transfers to Valheim’s chest and player inventories—while keeping equipped gear, quick slots, and pinned items protected.

Features

• Find items fast. Filter the open chest or your player inventory by item name. Matching works with localized names, item tokens, and partial text. The chest filter only hides non-matching items; it does not move or delete them.
• Sort the way you like. Sort your backpack or a chest by category, name, food stats, armor, weight, stack size, and more. Choose up to three sort fields and ascending or descending order.
• Merge stacks while sorting. Turn on Stack on Sort to combine compatible stacks before arranging them. For player inventory, movable stacks can fill a pinned stack without moving it from its slot.
• Give each chest its own sort setup. Sort choices are saved per chest in the current world. Use Reset this chest to clear a chest’s saved choices. Player sort choices are saved separately.
• Quick Stack nearby. Send items to nearby eligible chests that already hold a matching stack. Matching stacks fill first; remaining items can use empty slots in that same chest. Items without a match stay in your backpack, and receiving chests are highlighted briefly.
• Restock from the open chest. Top up partial stacks in your backpack, including pinned stacks. Pinned stacks are preferred by default.
• Pin important items. Click the 📌 in an item’s corner to keep that backpack slot in place when sorting. Pins are saved per character. Quick Stack leaves pinned items in your inventory.
• Locate nearby storage. Use locate Resin to highlight eligible chests containing Resin, locate to search for the item you are holding, or locate clear to remove highlights.

Getting started

Install BepInExPack Valheim, Jötunn, and Sonic Chest Filters through your mod manager. Open your inventory or a chest to use the Filter, Sort, Options, Quick Stack, and Restock controls.

Sorting a chest requires ownership and is unavailable while you are dragging an item. Player sorting leaves equipped gear, hotbar items, quick slots, protected slots, and pinned slots in place.

When Nearby Crafting Forked is installed, use its nearby or locate command. Sonic Chest Filters skips registering its own locate command to avoid a conflict; its inventory and chest features continue to work.

Settings

The config file is BepInEx/config/com.sonicdm.valheim.sonicchestfilters.cfg. Settings are also available through compatible configuration managers.

• Stack on Sort enables compatible stack merging for chest and player sorting.
• PreferPinnedStacks fills pinned stacks first during Restock and Stack on Sort. It is enabled by default.
• DebugLogging writes diagnostic details to the BepInEx log when enabled.
• Item Locate settings control search range, eligible containers, highlight count, duration, and color.

Pins are stored per character under BepInEx/config/SonicChestFilters/Pins. Chest sort choices are stored per world in the same SonicChestFilters config folder.
