This mod requires the following mods to function
denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim
BepInEx pack for Valheim. Preconfigured with the correct entry point for mods and preferred defaults for the community.
Preferred version: 5.4.2350README
ToxozQoL
A bundle of small quality-of-life improvements for Valheim, all in one mod.
If you have any of my other mods installed (
CraftFromChests,KeepInventoryOnDeath,StackIncrease), remove them - this single mod replaces all three and patches the same game methods, so keeping both installed causes conflicts (e.g. double resource consumption).
Features
Craft, build & smelt from nearby chests
Materials sitting in nearby chests count as if they were in your own
inventory at crafting stations and in hammer/placement mode. The requirement
UI shows the real total as "needed/total", e.g. 8/200, instead of flashing
red. Only chests you have access to are used. Search range is configurable
(default 40 meters).
Pressing E on a smelter, kiln or blast furnace adds up to 5 ore/wood/fuel at once instead of 1, taking from your inventory first and then from nearby chests if you're short. Hold Shift while pressing E to add exactly 1. It never adds more than fits.
Keep Inventory On Death
Keep your inventory and equipped gear when you die. No tombstone, no naked respawn, no re-equipping.
Stack Increase
Increases the max stack size and reduces the weight of stackable items (wood, stone, ore, arrows, food, etc.), both by a configurable amount (default x10 stack size, 20% weight). Equipment is untouched.
Fires Never Need Fuel
Campfires, bonfires, hearths and torches (standing and wall-mounted) never run out of fuel and never go out on their own. You still need to light them the first time.
Smarter Place Stacks
The "Place stacks" button and holding E on an open chest now search every chest within range - if an item already exists in a different nearby chest instead of the one you opened, it goes there instead.
No Food Decay
Health/stamina/eitr from food stays at its full value for the entire duration instead of gradually tapering off as the timer runs low. Still disappears normally once the food actually runs out.
Auto-Repair
Opening a crafting station that can repair (workbench, forge, etc.) instantly repairs all your equipped gear, instead of clicking the Repair button once per item.
Smelters/Kilns Output Straight To Chests
A finished bar or coal won't drop on the ground if there's a chest with room within 6 meters - it goes straight in instead.
Comfort Level In Build Menu
Pieces that give comfort (chairs, benches, banners, etc.) show their comfort level at the bottom of the description text in the build menu's info panel.
Longer Range For Station Upgrades
Chopping blocks, tanning racks, anvils, bellows and other pieces that upgrade a crafting station (workbench, forge, etc.) now count from up to 20 meters away instead of vanilla's usual ~5 meters. Configurable, and only ever raises the distance, never lowers it.
Crossbow/grappling hook stay loaded
Switching weapons or holstering a loaded crossbow or grappling hook no longer makes you redraw it - it's still loaded next time you bring it out, no matter how many other weapons you switch to in between. Only firing it clears the loaded state. The mark is saved on the weapon itself, so it survives a save/reload too.
Double-size explored map area
The area revealed on the map as you explore is doubled. Since the revealed area is circular, the reveal distance itself only increases by about 41% (not 100%) - that's what actually doubles the area.
Double comfort range
Comfort-giving pieces (chairs, benches, banners, etc.) count from 20 meters away instead of vanilla's 10 meters.
Installation
- Install BepInEx if you haven't already.
- Drop
ToxozQoL.dllintoBepInEx/plugins/. - Start the game.
Configuration
Created on first run: BepInEx/config/toxo.toxozqol.cfg
[CraftFromChests] SearchRadius(1-100 meters, default 40)[StackIncrease] StackMultiplier(1-1000, default 10)[StackIncrease] WeightMultiplier(0.01-2, default 0.2)[CraftingStations] StationExtensionRange(5-50 meters, default 20)
Stack/weight settings and StationExtensionRange need a game restart (or
world reload) to apply, since they only affect pieces when they load in.
Compatibility
All features are client-side only and work in single player and multiplayer (each player needs it installed to get the effects themselves).
The Large Chest can no longer be built as of v1.14.0, but if one was already placed in your world before updating, it still works and keeps its 100 slots
- everyone who needs to open it (including whoever hosts the world) should still have the mod installed, since it's a custom object saved into the world data.
Extra Slots: an early "chests fill from the top" feature was removed
after causing item duplication/loss when combined with Extra Slots' own deep
inventory patches (it patches the same crafting/inventory methods, e.g. an
IL transpiler on InventoryGui.DoCrafting). An earlier version of the
smelter/kiln batch refueling crashed against the same Extra Slots patches
(it moved items into your inventory and removed them again in a loop). The
current version never calls Inventory.AddItem and does a single
RemoveItem per source inventory per keypress, like vanilla does. No other
conflicts are known with the current feature set, but if you notice items
behaving oddly while running both mods together, please report it.
