Ye ye ye, I know — Tools of the Trade helps you with chopping wood, mining ore, foraging berries, mushrooms, plants, and all that repetitive Viking labour.

But guess what?

This mod wasn’t made just because we’re lazy bastards.

It was made for people with carpal tunnel, sore hands, tired fingers, and for anyone who would like their mouse to survive longer than their first trip to the Swamp.

Tools of the Trade adds 3 dedicated Tool Slots for your:

Axe Pickaxe Gathering Knife

Put your tools into their slots, and from there the mod handles the annoying part for you.

See a tree that needs chopping? Press E.

Found some ore that needs mining? Press E.

Need to gather berries, mushrooms, plants, or whatever else your Viking decides is worth shoving into a bag? Yep — press E.

The mod detects what kind of job you’re trying to do, automatically equips the correct tool from your Tool Slot, lets you get the work done, and then handles putting things back where they belong.

No more constantly opening your inventory.

No more swapping between your weapon, axe, pickaxe, and knife every five seconds.

No more:

“Where the hell is my pickaxe?”

“Why am I chopping this tree with my sword?”

“Why have I clicked this berry bush seventeen bloody times?”

Just walk up, press E, and get to work.

Work smarter, not harder.

Because Vikings, your hands have fought enough battles already.

It’s time to relax, chop some trees, clear your mind… and give your poor mouse a damn break. 🪓

How to use -

Using Tools of the Trade is pretty simple.

Place your Axe, Pickaxe, and Knife into the 3 dedicated Tool Slots. Once they’re there, you usually don’t need to manually equip them again.

Walk up to whatever job needs doing and press E.

If you interact with a tree, Tools of the Trade automatically equips your Axe. If you interact with mineable ore or rock, it equips your Pickaxe. If you interact with berries, mushrooms, plants, or other supported forageables, it equips your Knife.

Once the job is finished, the mod automatically handles your tools and restores what you were using before.

The Gathering Knife

Your Knife isn’t just there for decoration.

The better the quality of your Knife, the faster you can forage.

Higher-tier knives reduce the amount of time it takes to gather things like berries, mushrooms, plants, thistle, and other supported forageables.

So while an early-game knife will get the job done, upgrading to a better knife means spending less time crouched in front of a berry bush wondering what you’re doing with your life.

Better Knife = Faster Gathering.
