miikeskii's QoL Pack
Made with AI. A collection of quality-of-life mods.
28 mods for Valheim in one download, mostly for chests, building, the map and your inventory. It's client-side: the server doesn't need it, and neither do your friends. Every mod has its own on/off switch, so you can keep just the ones you like.
What's inside
Chests and inventory
- Add to Cart: pick what you want to build or craft, and fetch everything it needs from your chests in one go.
- Craft from Chests: craft, build and refuel with what's in the chests around you, without carrying it.
- StoreStash: quick stack into nearby chests, sorting, favorites, a trash can, and chests that only take what you tell them to.
- Reserve Stock: lock a chest so quick stacking and the other chest mods leave it alone.
- Outfitter: save loadouts and put one on in one click, with anything missing fetched from your chests.
- Portion Control: a better split window, and chest buttons for "all but one" and "as much as I can carry".
- Topper-Upper: torches and fires kept fuelled from your chests, smelters, kilns, windmills and fermenters fed by your own rules, with what they make put away, and loose items put into the chests that hold them.
Building
- Comfort Build: a Comfort tab in the build menu that shows what will raise your comfort.
- Terraformer: better hoe and cultivator tools, with a preview grid, resizing, square and rectangle tools, Slope, paint only, undo, and the grown tree shown before you plant a sapling.
- Handyman: tap R to switch the hammer to Repair and back.
- Bar None: reach through cage walls and fences, and let smoke, arrows and sunlight through them.
- Item Stand Icons: marks on item icons that show which items fit on item stands and armor stands.
- Grounded: hold Left Alt and rugs lie flat on the floor, overlapping, instead of piling up on each other.
- Hoarstone: no monsters spawn anywhere inside your settlement, its whole shape worked out from what you built: no more hidden torches in every corner.
- Z-Fighter: no more flickering where pieces overlap: floors laid into each other, crossing beams, roofs, stone walls side by side.
The map
- Map View Rules: choose which map pins show at which zoom level.
- Map Zoom: zoom the big map in fewer scrolls, toward your mouse.
- Trader Circles: circles on the map where Haldor, Hildir and the Bog Witch can be found.
- XPortal Map Picker: pick an XPortal destination by clicking it on the map, and see every portal as a pin.
Everything else
- Use Case: hover over a resource to see everything it's used for.
- House Trained: tames that don't wreck your base or climb out of their pens, follow you like wolves, and keep to your Hoarstone's ground and guard it; and wild creatures that get hit by each other's area attacks.
- PowerWheel: hold F for a wheel of your forsaken powers, and pick one without walking back to its stone.
- Spare Keys: a picture of your keyboard showing which keys the game and your mods leave free.
- MenUI: every button of the main menu on screen, Quit included, however many buttons your other mods add.
- AFK Raid Blocker: step away from the keyboard without coming back to a raided base: raids don't start on you while you and everyone near you are away.
- World Settings: set longer or shorter days and nights in your own world; on a server that sets them, your sky, your bed and the weather follow the server's.
- Quick Fix: repair all your gear in one go at a Grinding Wheel or a Smith's Anvil, built anywhere, or in the field with a Sharpening Stone from your hotbar.
- Nap Time: in your own world, or on a server that allows it, lie down in your bed by day: once everyone is in bed, you all sleep through to dusk.
The mods
Add to Cart
Press K for a window listing everything you can build, craft or cook, and everything in the chests near you. Add things to the cart and it shows what the whole cart needs, what your chests have and what's still missing. Press Fetch and it takes it all out of the chests at once.
- Click an item to add one, Shift + click for five, Ctrl + click for as many as your chests allow. Right-click takes one back off.
- Browse by category, material, crafting station or family of items, in the order you unlock them.
- Locate (Alt + click on the Take tab) puts a label over every chest that holds an item.
- Leaves one of each stackable item in every chest, but never keeps back your only helmet or sword. Tick True counts on the Take tab to see everything, and the cart asks before it takes a chest's last one.
- Reaches chests up to 150 m away out of the box (up to 250 m in the settings). Small, medium and large window sizes.
Craft from Chests
The crafting menu, the build menu and stations use what's in the chests near you as if it were in your inventory. The menus count it too, so you can see what you can make.
- With none of a station's fuel on you, press E on a smelter, kiln, fire or other station to put in one from a chest, or hold Left Shift + E to fill it.
- Craft an amount: a number with + and − beside the Craft button. Click or turn the mouse wheel over it; hold Left Shift to go up or down by fives, or Left Ctrl (or right-click +) for as many as you can make. Press Craft once and the whole amount is made, five at a time where it can be, as the game's own x5 craft, so you get its bigger crafting bonus and the same skill as crafting them one by one. The materials shown are for the whole amount.
- Left Alt + O turns it off and on.
- Chests reserved with Reserve Stock are skipped, and your personal chests are used first.
- Replaces AzuCraftyBoxes, and stays off while that's installed.
StoreStash
Everything to do with putting things away. It replaces HexQuickStackStorage, and stays off while that's installed. Your Hex favorites and trash marks are copied over the first time.
- Quick stack: P, or the button by your inventory, puts what you're carrying into nearby chests that already hold the same thing. The chests light up for a moment so you can see where things went. Your hotbar is included, so favorite anything you want to keep on you.
- One stack: middle-click a stack in your inventory to put away just that stack, even a favorite, and keep your other stacks of it.
- Your own chests: H does the same, but only into your personal chests: the game's Personal Chests you've built, and any chest you've marked as yours with Left Alt + H or the person button in its window. Friends with the pack can be let in, let only look, or kept out of your marked chests.
- Sorting: S sorts your inventory, leaving your hotbar, what you're wearing and your favorites where they are (a favorite's stacks merge into one). Chests sort themselves when you open them.
- Favorites: Left Shift + right-click an item to favorite it. Favorites get a gold border and are never stacked away, sorted or trashed.
- Trash: Left Alt + right-click marks a kind of item as trash. The trash can next to your inventory deletes everything marked, after asking.
- Chest setups: Left Alt + J on a chest lets you pick what it takes, like "Hides and Pelts" or "anything from the Plains". Quick stacking fills set-up chests first, even empty ones, and keeps everything else out of them. A group can come from biomes of its own ("Mistlands Weapons"), and some families have quick picks like Metal Ingots, Prepared Dishes or Stamina Foods. With a chest open, Ctrl + C copies its setup and Ctrl + V pastes it onto another.
- Stack Overflow: chests with the same setup act as one big chest. Left Alt + N tidies them, so each item ends up in as few chests as possible.
Reserve Stock
Reserve a chest with the padlock button in its window, or Left Alt + E while looking at it. Quick stacking, Craft from Chests, Add to Cart and Outfitter then leave it alone. You can still put things in and take them out yourself. The mark is saved on the chest, and friends who have the pack respect it too.
It also works with HexQuickStackStorage's quick stack, if you still use that.
Outfitter
Save loadouts and switch between them in one click.
- Hold Right Alt and click inventory slots to pick them, then save them as a named loadout. Every item remembers its slot.
- L opens the Outfitter window. Equip a loadout and anything it's missing comes out of nearby chests, while what you were wearing goes back into them. Weapons, armour and arrows you wear that the loadout doesn't come off; a belt or trinket stays on unless a chest takes it or you choose otherwise.
- Three ways to equip: replace everything, swap only your gear, or swap your gear and add the rest.
- Food slots can hold a rule instead of one food, like "most Health", filled from the food nearby each time you equip.
- Build a loadout from your chests: a panel beside the window lists everything nearby to drag into a loadout.
- Share codes copy a loadout to a friend as text. Only the list is shared, not the items.
- Loadout stands: any armor stand can hold a loadout and wear its gear while you don't. Left Alt + E at the stand puts it on you, and pressing it again hangs it back. Left Alt + Left Shift + E saves what you're carrying and wearing to the stand, and L at a stand lets you rename it or move loadouts between stands. A piece can be shown on the stand without going into your hands (a hammer on display).
- Works with EquipmentAndQuickSlots. Stays off while AzuExtendedPlayerInventory, ExtraSlots, Extended Player Inventory or ComfyQuickSlots is installed, since they change the inventory in ways Outfitter can't follow.
Portion Control
A better split window (Shift + click a stack):
- Start typing and the number goes straight into the amount box. Or use the -1, +1, Min, Max and 50% buttons.
- A panel beside it adds 20% and 25%, your own fixed amounts (1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 30, or your own per item), All -1, and Max weight, which takes as much as you can carry without being over-encumbered.
- Right-click an amount to split the whole stack into stacks of that size.
- Chest windows get a -1 button next to Take all, which takes all but one of each item, and a Max weight button: left-click takes all you can carry, right-click leaves one of each.
- Replaces BetterSplitDialog. While BetterSplitDialog or Abacus is installed, it leaves the split window to them, but the chest buttons still work.
Topper-Upper
Your torches, fires and stations topped up from your own chests, by your own rules, and what they make put away.
- Lights and fires near you get their own fuel from the chests near you: resin for torches and sconces, coal for braziers, wood for fires, the hearth and the hot tub. One switch per kind; fires the world made are left alone.
- Stations (smelter, blast furnace, charcoal kiln, windmill, spinning wheel, eitr refinery, Frigid Kiln, fermenter, shield generator, Frost Foundry) take from the chests near them, or only from chests you link to them. Each takes in an order you set (the smelter: Silver ore first), and the charcoal kiln takes only plain Wood.
- Your rules: a reserve per item ("Resin:50": torches are topped up only while more than 50 resin is near you), and a most per product ("BlackMetal:120": the blast furnace stops once 120 Black metal is near you, counting what's already cooking). One of each item stays in every chest.
- Link chests: Left Alt + J at a station, then E on a chest for an input, Left Shift + E for an output, both for a chest that's both; while you link, each chest says what the keys will do to it. A windmill can take barley only from one chest and put flour only into another.
- Leave one alone: Left Alt + E at a light or station.
- What stations make goes into the linked output chest, or into chests that already hold it within the station's own output radius (farther than what it takes from, if you like), or stays where it falls: your choice.
- Loose items on the ground (what you mined, chopped or killed) go into chests nearby that already hold them, a few at a time with one line over the chest ("Stone x87"), never one by one.
- Catch up while you're away (off out of the box): when you come back to a base, its smelters, kilns, windmill and fermenter make up the time players were on since they last ran, fed from your chests by your own rules, at most a day of play, and what they make goes into chests. A night with nobody on never counts. On a server running miikeskii's Server-Side QoL Pack, the server can switch it on for everyone.
- Out of the box, lights and fires, stations and loose items are all on. Switch stations or loose items off if another mod already feeds your stations or picks up your drops (see Playing with friends).
Comfort Build
Adds a Comfort tab to the build menu with only the pieces that give comfort, grouped the way the game counts them: chairs, beds, fires and so on. Each group shows how much you already have where you're standing (like "Chairs 2/3"), and your comfort is shown at the top. Click Grey Out Unneeded on the tab to grey out the pieces that wouldn't raise your comfort there.
Terraformer
Better terrain tools for the hoe and the cultivator. It replaces AdvancedTerrainModifiers and stays off while that's installed. Ground you shaped with it stays as it is.
- A preview grid on the ground shows exactly what a stroke will change, for every terrain tool, the game's own included.
- Right Ctrl + mouse wheel resizes a tool, and Right Alt + mouse wheel makes its edge sharper or softer. Each tool remembers its own size.
- Square tools snap to the terrain grid and turn with the mouse wheel in 22.5° steps, so you can line the ground up with a building at an angle. Right Shift + mouse wheel makes one a rectangle.
- Flatten levels the ground properly, to your feet. Hold Left Shift, Left Ctrl or Left Alt while you click to level to where you're pointing, to the lowest point or to the highest.
- Slope lays the ground onto one even slope, from its highest point to its lowest, or as a ramp between two clicks; the grid shows it before you click. Right Alt + mouse wheel softens its edge.
- Hold Left Alt with Paved road or Cultivate to only paint: the ground keeps its shape.
- Hold Left Alt while placing a sapling to see the tree it will grow into. Q / E pick the birch's shape and Right Alt + mouse wheel its size; planted while it shows, it grows into exactly that tree.
- Lower ground is in the hoe, so you don't need a shovel.
- Right Ctrl + Z undoes your last strokes (up to 5) and gives back the stone.
- No seams at zone borders, and wards are checked along the whole stroke.
Handyman
With the hammer out, tap R to switch to Repair. Tap it again to go back to the piece you had, still turned the way it was. Holding R puts the hammer away, as it always does. It follows the game's hide-weapon key, so it works if you've rebound it.
Bar None
See-through pieces stop getting in the way. Cage walls and floors, crystal walls, dividers and roundpole fences:
- Reach through them to fuel a fire, open a chest or pick a crop (never through a gate).
- Let smoke through, so a fire under a cage floor keeps burning.
- Let arrows through, yours and your enemies'.
- Let the sky through, so crops under a cage floor still grow.
- Let dropped items fall through, like eggs and meat through a pen's cage floor. This one is off by default.
Each part has its own switch and its own list of pieces. It replaces JereKuusela's Smoke_Collision and Projectile_Collision; each part stays off while the matching mod is installed. If you grow crops under a cage floor, read Playing with friends below.
Item Stand Icons
Small marks on item icons show where an item can go: an up arrow for the wall item stand, a right arrow for the flat one, both for both, and a little mannequin for the armor stand. They show in your inventory, chests, the hotbar, the crafting menu and at the trader, or only while you're looking at a stand if you prefer. If another mod lets more items onto stands, the marks follow it.
Off by default: switch on its Enabled setting.
Grounded
Hold Left Alt while you place a rug and it lies flat on the floor under it, instead of on top of the rugs already there, so you can overlap as many as you like.
- Rugs come down onto the planks or stones you see, as low as they can go while your hammer can still point at them to remove them.
- Every floor piece and all eleven rugs count, other mods' too. Over a table, a shelf or the bare ground, the rug goes where the game puts it.
- Let go of the key and the game's own placement is back. Hold, a press to switch it on and off, or always: your choice.
Hoarstone
No more hidden torches in every corner of your base. Hoarstone works out a settlement's whole shape from the pieces you built, closes the gaps, follows the coast, and keeps monsters from spawning anywhere inside it.
- Gates and broken stretches of wall narrower than "Gaps to close" are closed, and everything a wall encloses is inside, even where the wall stops at the sea. A margin goes all round, and a shore margin out over the water. Ground you raised or dug with the hoe counts.
- Monsters spawn outside and may still walk in. Fixed spawn points inside stop too; nests can, with a setting.
- The Hoarstone, next to the Ward in the hammer's menu (once you know its materials, three trophies and more), marks a settlement. Point at it to see the outline; E keeps it shown. Taking it down gives back what it cost.
- Out of the box only settlements with a Hoarstone keep monsters out, so nothing changes until someone places one. Set "Where" to EverySettlement for all of them.
- Left Alt + F3 shows every settlement's outline, on the ground and on the map; settlements without a Hoarstone in grey.
Z-Fighter
Where two pieces are laid into each other, the game can't tell which surface is in front, and the textures flicker and stripe as you move. Z-Fighter draws one of the two a millimetre bigger on your screen, so it sits just over the other.
- Floors laid into each other for a curve, a 1x1 inside a 2x2, crossing beams, a beam into a pole, stone walls side by side, overlapping roofs: no more flicker.
- The smaller piece shows on top, or the bigger one, or by kind (beams over roofs over walls over floors): your choice.
- Only how pieces look on your screen changes. Where they stand, what you bump into and where the next piece snaps stay exactly as they were, and friends see their own game.
- Rugs are left to the game and to Grounded.
Use Case
Hover over a resource and a panel beside the tooltip lists everything it's used for, and how many: building, crafting, upgrading, refueling (a sconce takes resin), smelting, boss altars, taming, bait, the traders and more. It reads your own game, so recipes from other mods show up too. Anything you haven't discovered yet shows as "???".
House Trained
Help for your animals, each part with its own switch:
- Tames spare buildings: your tames stop breaking your buildings when they bite, stomp or run around. Ships, carts and crops are spared too.
- Friendly fire: wild creatures' area attacks (stomps, slams, poison clouds, fire, explosions) also hurt the other creatures around them. Never you, and your tames only if you want.
- Tames in pens: no climbing out on each other's backs or over fences, babies are born inside the pen, heads stay out of the walls, no attacking through walls, and they wander around the pen instead of standing at the wall.
- Healing in pens: hurt tames inside a pen heal much faster.
- Feeding from your hand: look at a hungry tame and press the hotbar key of a food it eats (a Cloudberry for a Lox) to feed it straight from your hand. It heals a little too.
- Every tame follows you: E on a boar, a Lox, a hen, an asksvin or a moose makes it follow you, and E again makes it stay, as with wolves. On a saddle E still rides: point at the creature itself.
- With the Hoarstone (only while Hoarstone is on): tames keep to your settlement's ground, leave it only to fight (and come back) or to follow you, and go for any enemy that gets onto it, from a pen only while its gate is open. Left Alt + E on a tame outside sends it home.
PowerWheel
Tap F to use your forsaken power, as always (it starts as you let go). Hold F and the game's own wheel opens with every forsaken power: point at one to see its name and whether it's ready, and let go to make it yours, without walking back to its stone.
- A power stays a padlock, with no boss icon or name, until its boss's trophy is on its stone, and can't be picked until then. Switching never resets the wait before you can use a power again.
- A right click or Esc closes the wheel without a change. It follows your own binding of the power key. With a gamepad, hold D-pad down and aim with the right stick.
- With a hammer, hoe or cultivator in hand, F works as in the game.
Spare Keys
Press Insert in a world for a picture of your keyboard and mouse showing which keys the game and your mods use, and which they leave free.
- Green keys are free, blue ones are free alone but taken with Ctrl, Alt or Shift, grey ones are in use, and amber ones may be in use. Purple keys are shared: two things use them, but never at the same moment (Left Alt + E at a chest, at an armour stand, at a fire), so one press never does both. Red keys are a clash: two things that can work at once, so one press does both.
- Point at a key to see what uses it and when each works (at a chest, with the hammer in hand, with the inventory open), with free keys nearby. Hold Ctrl, Alt or Shift to see the keys with it held. A list below the picture shows everything, the free keys, the clashes, the shared keys, or one mod's keys.
- While a key setting in F1, or the game's own Controls menu, waits for you to press a key, the same picture shows beside it, judged for that setting: purple there means free for it.
- It only looks: it never changes a setting.
MenUI
Mods that add a button to the main menu (Quick Connect, VPO Settings, Mods Settings and the like) make the list longer at the bottom, until Quit drops out of the window. MenUI fits them back on screen.
- The buttons shrink just enough, their top staying put; if they'd get too small, the list moves up as well. A menu that fits is left exactly as the game made it.
- It fits whatever buttons the menu shows, from any mod, and again when your window changes size.
- The menu Esc opens in game is fitted the same way.
- The up and down arrow keys reach every button, other mods' included.
AFK Raid Blocker
Step away from the game without coming back to a base flattened by trolls. While you're away from the keyboard, and nobody near you is still playing, raids don't start on you.
- You're away after 5 minutes without moving or touching a key, the mouse or a gamepad, or at once when you sit or lie down: the Sit key, /sit, /rest or /relax. Move or press a key and you're back; if you sat or lay down, stand up.
- A short line on screen says when raids are held off and when they can come again, and a small AFK sign stays at the top of the screen, over every menu, the whole time you're away. Each can be switched off.
- While a friend within 96 m is still playing, or doesn't have the pack, raids come as usual and can reach you. A raid already under way goes on.
- Chairs and beds can count too, and friends with the pack can see "(AFK)" beside your name (both off at first).
World Settings
Make the days and nights longer or shorter in your own world, and follow a server that does. Every player's game works out the time of day for itself, and the game never tells it how long a day is, so without this your sun would rise and set by the game's own 30-minute cycle while the server sleeps by another.
- In your own world (playing alone, or the game's Start Server): its settings set how long the day and the night last, and each weather and the wind. Each is the game's own until you set it. Friends who join with the pack follow it.
- With World Settings (Server) on someone else's server (in miikeskii's Server-Side QoL Pack): the day and the night last as long as the server says, and so does each weather and the wind. You can go to bed when the others can, and a sleep wakes you in the morning.
- The sky moves straight to the right time of day when you join, or when a length changes.
- The day number is the world's age counted in that world's days.
- On a server without it, the game's own day stays as it is. A line under its switch in the settings says which applies where you are.
Quick Fix
Repair your gear in one go instead of one click at a time.
- Look at a Grinding Wheel and press Use: everything in your inventory without a metal bar in its recipe (leather, bone, wood, cloth) is repaired to full. A Smith's Anvil does the same for everything with metal in it. Either can be set to repair the other kind, or everything.
- Both can be built anywhere, not only beside a Forge (a Workbench is still needed near).
- Out in the field, press a Sharpening Stone on your hotbar: one bar runs, a second per item, and your worn gear gets back half of its full durability, for one stone. Press it again, attack, sprint, jump or dodge to stop it; a stopped repair keeps your stone.
- Which gear the stone mends, how much, how long it takes and what it costs are settings; it can also wear down like a tool instead of being used up.
- Off at first: everything a crafting station can mend is repaired as you open it, or as you walk up to it.
Nap Time
The game lets everyone sleep through the night to the morning. Nap Time lets everyone sleep through the day to the night.
- In your own world (playing alone, or the game's Start Server), and on a server running Nap Time (Server) (in miikeskii's Server-Side QoL Pack), your own bed works in the daytime too. Once everyone is in bed, the clock runs on to sunset and you all wake at dusk. Friends who join your world with the pack nap with you.
- In the afternoon, when the game already lets you sleep to the next morning, E sleeps to the morning as before and Left Alt + E naps until dusk. The nap happens only if everyone in bed chose it. Your bed says which key does what.
- Your own world's nap hours and afternoon rule are settings; on a server, they are the server's.
- At night your bed is the game's own. On a server without Nap Time (Server), nothing changes. A line under its switch in the settings says which applies where you are.
Map View Rules
Choose which map pins show at which zoom level, so the map doesn't drown in icons when you zoom out.
- Rules for each kind of pin: each category from Cartur's Map Pins (ore, dungeons, berries, spawners and so on), each pickable, your own pins, death markers, portals, and any pin name you choose.
- The big map and the minimap have separate rules. Icons and names can hide at different zoom levels, and pins can shrink as you zoom out.
- Choose what you see of a friend's map when you share it at a cartography table: everything, only the land they explored, or only their pins.
- Nothing is deleted. Every pin stays saved and shared, it's only hidden.
- Comes set up with miikeskii's own rules, which hide most resource and location pins as you zoom out.
Works best with Cartur's Map Pins. Without it, only the game's own pins get their own rules.
Map Zoom
The mouse wheel zooms the big map from fully in to fully out in 10 scrolls instead of about 44, and zooms toward your mouse pointer. The number of scrolls is a setting.
Trader Circles
Draws a see-through circle on the map around every place Haldor, Hildir or the Bog Witch might be. The trader is somewhere inside it, and the circle goes away once they've been found. Works on any server, with nothing installed there. Each trader can be switched off on its own.
XPortal Map Picker
Needs XPortal. Adds a Map button to XPortal's destination list, so you can pick where a portal goes by clicking it on the map (right-click or Esc to cancel). While you pick, the map shows only the portals and the other players.
It also puts every portal on the map and minimap as a pin, with its name when you hover over it. These pins are only drawn in your game, never saved or shared.

Installing
- With a mod manager (r2modman, Thunderstore Mod Manager or Gale): install it from this page, or search for miikeskiis QoL Pack. BepInExPack for Valheim and Jötunn come with it.
- By hand: install BepInExPack for Valheim and Jötunn first, then put
QoLMods.dllinBepInEx/plugins/miikeskii-miikeskiis_QoL_Pack/.
If you already have one of these mods installed on its own, remove that copy.
Settings
Press F1 in game with a configuration manager such as shudnal's ConfigurationManager. The pack is one entry, miikeskii's QoL Pack, with a section for each mod, and every setting has a description. Each section starts with Enabled, which switches that mod off or on straight away, no restart needed.
The settings file is BepInEx/config/modprojects.qolmods.cfg. It's created the first time you start the game with the pack.
How far mods reach for chests: the section Chests (every mod) holds one Chest range for every mod that uses chests. Each of those mods also has a range of its own, which wins unless it's 0 (0 follows the shared one). Switch on Use this range in every mod there to make them all use the shared one while it's on, or press its button to set every mod's own range to 0 for good. Below it, a list names every chest distance in the pack, where it is in the settings and what it reaches now, so you can find any of them.
Lists picked from pictures: every setting that holds a list of the game's things (Grounded's floors, Bar None's see-through pieces, Topper-Upper's reserves, House Trained's tames and the rest) has a Pick button beside its text box. It opens a window of everything that list can hold, each with its picture, sorted and grouped as the pack's other windows are, with a search box: click a picture to put it on the list or take it off, set amounts and order where the list has them. The text box stays for typing. The section Lists (every mod) sets the window's size, the pictures' size and whether things you haven't found yet show.
Playing with friends
- Shared chests are safe. The mods that take from chests (Add to Cart, Craft from Chests, StoreStash and Outfitter) only move items once the game says the chest is free, the same way opening a chest works, so nothing gets duplicated or lost when friends use the same chests. A chest a friend has open is only used if they have the pack too.
- Far chests on a server. On a server, the game lets a chest be used only through the game of a player within about 64 to 128 m of it. For chests farther from everyone, the setting Chests beyond the server's reach (on, in the Chests (every mod) section of the settings) lets your own game claim them when a mod needs them: crafting and fetching wait a moment, and building can take a few clicks. Where the server runs Far Fetched, a small separate server mod by the same author, the server hands those chests to you itself and they answer at once. If something can't be had, the message says which chest and why.
- Crops under a cage floor. In multiplayer, one player's game looks after each part of the world. If that's a friend without the pack when caged crops ripen, their game decides the crops got no sun, and they die. If you farm under cage floors, everyone who visits should have the pack, or at least Bar None's sky part.
- Marks only count for friends with the pack. To everyone else, reserved chests, chests marked as yours (even ones you keep friends out of) and loadout stands are ordinary chests and stands.
- miikeskii's Server-Side QoL Pack on the server (a small companion for the server, by the same author) hands far chests to you (Far Fetched, inside it), puts loose items into chests and feeds stations for friends without the pack, hands a friend's drops and stations near you to your Topper-Upper when it does those itself, and sets Topper-Upper's catch-up for everyone with a clock that counts only the time players were on. With its World Settings (Server), it can make the days and nights longer or shorter (your World Settings follows it; friends without the pack keep the game's own sky, out of step, so their bed may refuse while yours works) and set the game's own world modifiers for everyone. With its Nap Time (Server), everyone can sleep through the day to dusk (your Nap Time lets you lie down by day). You need nothing more than this pack.
- Hosting with Start Server, or playing alone: your game runs the world, so this pack's Nap Time and World Settings serve the naps and the day themselves, by their "Your own world" settings, and friends who join with the pack follow them. With miikeskii's Server-Side QoL Pack (or one of its mods on its own) also installed in your game, it decides those instead.
- Naps wait for everyone. A friend without the pack can't lie down in the daytime, so a morning nap waits for them as the night waits for anyone not in bed; in the afternoon their bed sleeps to the morning, so everyone does.
- Topper-Upper feeds what your game looks after. Each light and station is fed by one game only, the one looking after it (the first player to reach a base looks after what's around them), with that player's rules, and only from chests that game already has: two friends with the pack never feed the same thing, and nothing extra is asked over the network. A base nobody is at isn't fed, since the game doesn't run stations nobody is near.
- Another mod on the server that feeds stations or picks up loose items (not miikeskii's Server-Side QoL Pack, which works with Topper-Upper) would do it beside Topper-Upper, whose "Feed stations" and "Pick up loose items into chests" are on out of the box: have that mod's feeding and pickup switched off on the server. One that asks your game for every item on the ground can also freeze your game when a big stone deposit breaks; Topper-Upper says so once when the server asks.
- Raids wait only while everyone near is away. AFK Raid Blocker holds off raids on you only while nobody within 96 m of you is still playing. A friend without the pack always counts as playing, so they get raids as before, and so do you while they're near.
- Settlements keep monsters out where a game with the pack decides. Monsters spawn in the game that looks after a place (usually that of the first player who came near and stayed); where that's a friend without the pack, they spawn there as usual. To that friend a Hoarstone is a Ward that's switched off. Friends with the pack: keep Hoarstone's Settlements and Shape settings alike, since each part of a settlement is saved by the game that looks after it.
Removing the pack
Nothing in your world breaks. Ground you shaped stays shaped, loadouts stay saved with your character, and the marks on chests and stands are just ignored. A Hoarstone becomes a Ward that's switched off, and monsters spawn in settlements as before. The one thing to watch: crops under a cage floor need Bar None, and without it they die when they ripen.
Other mods
Replaced by this pack. While one of these is installed, the mod that replaces it stays off, so the two never fight over the same thing. Uninstall the old one to use the pack's.
| Their mod | Replaced by |
|---|---|
| AzuCraftyBoxes | Craft from Chests |
| HexQuickStackStorage | StoreStash |
| BetterSplitDialog | Portion Control |
| AdvancedTerrainModifiers | Terraformer |
| Smoke_Collision and Projectile_Collision | Bar None |
| AutomaticFuel and LazyVikings | Topper-Upper (it feeds nothing while one is installed) |
If you play with friends who use the same chests, they should drop AzuCraftyBoxes too: it takes from shared chests without waiting for them to be free.
Works with:
- XPortal: needed for XPortal Map Picker. The rest of the pack works without it.
- Cartur's Map Pins: gives Map View Rules its pin categories.
- EquipmentAndQuickSlots: Outfitter's loadouts can use its slots.
- PlantEasily: when it plants a whole grid, Craft from Chests pays for every plant from your chests.
- ValheimPerformanceOverhaul: works alongside. On a server it makes your game send its updates nearest first, which can leave chests a few dozen metres away stuck for minutes, so the pack switches just that part of it off (Skarif's mod: send in the game's own order, in the Performance mods (every mod) section of the settings). Its "Tamed Animal Idle Sleep" setting puts tames to sleep when nobody is close, so House Trained's pens have nothing to do and breeding slows down; switch it off in its own menu (F6) if your pens matter.
- TimedTorchesStayLit: works alongside Topper-Upper, but with its "Stay Lit" on your torches look lit to you whatever their fuel. Switch "Stay Lit" off to see the real fuel.
- RememberServerPassword, ConfigurationManager and any other mod that adds main-menu buttons: MenUI keeps them all on screen.
- MyLittleUI: Craft from Chests' amount buttons take the place of its Multicraft buttons while they're on; the rest of it works as before.
- MultiUserChest and Item Stand All Items.
Does the same job. These work alongside the pack, but use one or the other: switch off the matching part of the pack, or the other mod.
- StructureDamageTweaks: House Trained's "Tames spare buildings".
- SolidHitboxes and Expand World Factions: House Trained's friendly fire.
- ChestButler, Hearthkeeper, OdinStorage and RunicStorage: StoreStash's Stack Overflow.
- Armory (by DeathMonger) and NoVikingLeftBehind's loadouts: Outfitter.
- Wardrobe, QuickswapArmorstand, ZenItemStands and RunicDisplayStands: Outfitter's loadout stands. Wardrobe and QuickswapArmorstand also use Left Alt + E on stands.
- ForsakenPowersPlusRemastered's power switching (F8): PowerWheel. Both work side by side.
- Bindrune: Spare Keys. With Bindrune installed, Spare Keys leaves Insert to it; open the key map from its button in F1 or give it another key.
If something goes wrong
Look in BepInEx/LogOutput.log. When the game starts, the pack writes one line listing every mod inside, its version and whether it's on. If a mod can't run, because it needs a mod you don't have or a game update changed something under it, only that mod switches off and says why in the log. The rest keep working.
