Sapienheim
Experimental. An AI companion for Valheim dedicated servers. You talk to it in chat, and it follows, fights, gathers, crafts and builds for you. A large language model (Claude) decides what to say and do; the mod does the doing.
This mod alone does nothing visible. It needs the Sapienheim agent, a small program you host yourself next to the server, and your own Claude API key (usage is billed to you). Without the agent the companion still exists, follows and fights, but won't talk or take orders.
What it does
- A companion NPC that is tame from birth and belongs to whoever summons it. The dedicated server simulates it, so it keeps working when nobody is nearby.
- Talk to it with
@Name ...in chat, or just chat within 10 m of it. - Orders in plain language: follow, stay, go somewhere (up to 5 km), fight, fetch from chests, gather wood or stone, craft at a station, build from templates, repair or tear down buildings, use and build portals.
- Settlements: an outpost, farm, village, fort (stone walls once Bonemass is beaten), mining camp or port, sited away from your bases and outside wards, with every material gathered honestly. Each gets a name and a map pin.
- Roads and blueprints: stone-paved roads between places, with wooden bridges over narrow water; builds shared PlanBuild
.blueprintfiles (vanilla pieces only) and saves buildings as new ones. Comes with BiomeBlueprints (353 builds by biome, installed with it) and its own watchtower and lighthouse. - Boats and fishing: rides along as a passenger (swims to the ladder, stands by the mast, swims back if it falls in); fishes with a rod and bait.
- Exploring and missions: goes off exploring, uncovering its master's map and pinning what it finds (boss altars, traders, dungeons); takes on long jobs far away and reports at milestones.
- Chores: tends fires, cooks, runs kilns and smelters, farms, feeds tamed animals, stores loot like with like and labels chests.
- Sensible by default:
- It drops what it's doing to fight anything attacking.
- It doesn't chop or mine inside wards.
- Its gear doesn't wear out.
- It keeps its inventory through death and restarts.
- It goes off duty when everyone has been offline for a while.
- Levels with you: stronger after each boss, and its armour matches yours.
- Map marker for the companion.
- A look of its own: a burly viking (hair, beard, colours and proportions are configurable), or the Dverger body.
- A voice: short voice clips at moments (battle cries, "Timber!", arriving) and when the AI adds one to what it says. Replace the
.oggfiles inBepInEx/plugins/ValheimCompanion/sounds/to give it a different voice.
