CHANGELOG

Changelog

1.0.6

Performance:

  • Fixed: a small stutter that happened every couple of seconds during runs. There was a similar one in a few specific moments, and it's fixed too.
  • The mod's HUD now creates much less memory garbage every frame.

Recycler:

  • Fixed: recycling a stack of roaches (or any stack of White Knuckle's own items) could give endless emeralds. This came from the stack fix in 1.0.4: each stack is now paid for exactly once.

1.0.5

Fixes for cutscenes and transitions:

  • Fixed: after Herobrine took you to the Void, the camera could stay stuck looking at the tower. This happened if the inventory, the Survival Guide or the command block was opened during the scene: closing it afterwards locked the camera again. These screens no longer open during a cutscene, and any that is already open closes when one begins.
  • Fixed: the cutscenes that hold you in place (the Mother's and Rho's) now always let you go. If anything goes wrong in one of them, or it runs far longer than it should, it ends, and you're free to move and look again. If Rho's moment is cut short this way, Herobrine can still be fought.
  • Reverted: in 1.0.4, the glitch at the top of the tower in the Void was replaced with a fade to black. That was a mistake on our side, and the glitch is back. The glitch effect also no longer stops the game's time, so it can't leave the screen frozen in any scene.

1.0.4

  • New: attack cooldown, as in Minecraft's Combat Update. Each hand has its own cooldown, shown as Minecraft's attack indicator next to the crosshair: the left hand's bar on the left, the right hand's on the right. Every weapon and tool has Minecraft's attack speed (swords are quick, axes hit hard but slow, and so on). Swinging before the bar is full deals much less damage and starts the bar over. Charging a strong attack holds that hand's bar where it is. White Knuckle's own melee items have a cooldown too: the hammer and similar items swing at a sword's speed, and the rapier, which hits harder, is a little slower.
  • Fixed: the screen could freeze the moment you reached the top of the tower in the Void. That part of the scene is now a short fade to black, and the rest of it can no longer get stuck. (This change was a mistake: the glitch was never the problem. It was reverted in 1.0.5.)
  • Fixed: recycling a stack only paid for one item of it. Now the whole stack is paid for.
  • Fixed: Herobrine walked into the player and shoved them. He now keeps a tiny distance, close enough to hit you, but he no longer pushes. To make up for it, his hits knock you back a bit harder.
  • Fixed: with some other mods installed (for example ResourcefulHands), the mod's menu sounds could throw an error and stop the menu from opening.
  • The BepInEx log no longer fills up with achievement messages.
  • Your character's hidden binding perk no longer shows up in the perk list or on the perk machine.

1.0.3

Sorry, one more! This one fixes the real cause of the missing-files problem from 1.0.1:

  • Fixed: installing with a mod manager (Thunderstore Mod Manager, r2modman) scattered the mod's files: everything inside its assets folder was dumped loose into one folder, and many files with the same name overwrote each other. In 1.0.0 that meant an untextured grass block and a frozen menu; since 1.0.1 the mod switched itself off instead. The package is now laid out the way mod managers expect, so the files install where they belong.
    • If you had this problem, just update to 1.0.3 (your progress is kept).

1.0.2

Sorry for another update so soon after the last one! Two more things came up, and both are fixed now:

  • Fixed: the characters' hands were showing up in White Knuckle's cosmetics menu, as a whole page of hands anyone could pick. They are meant to come only with their characters, and now they do again.
  • Changed: White Knuckle's own Steam achievements now unlock as usual when you're not playing the mod's game mode. They are only held back during Herobrine Not Removed runs (playing one of the mod's characters). Before this, simply having the mod installed held them back everywhere.

1.0.1

  • Fixed: in some installs the mod couldn't find its assets folder. When that happened, the grass block on the main menu had no texture and the mod's menu froze.
    • The mod now also looks for its assets folder anywhere inside BepInEx, not only next to HerobrineNotRemoved.dll.
    • If the folder isn't there at all, the mod no longer loads half-broken. It stays out, so the game works normally, and the BepInEx log (BepInEx/LogOutput.log) says how to fix the install.
    • If this happened to you, update to 1.0.1. If the menu still doesn't show up, reinstall the mod, making sure the assets folder comes with it.
  • Added the trailer to the mod's page.

1.0.0

  • First release.
