Monster Dance Break
By Rodanius · Version 0.2.1
Give eligible monsters an occasional dance entrance, taunt, or synchronized party using your installed CustomEmotesAPI emotes. Monsters keep moving, attacking, and using their normal AI while they dance.
The party rules
- Fresh monsters can arrive emoting; suitable bosses may bring backing dancers.
- Ping an eligible monster to put it in the spotlight.
- Failed Shrines of Chance, damage taunts, last-monster solos, and teleporter celebrations add contextual moments.
- Nearby monsters can follow a compatible player emote.
- Automatic events share a quiet period, a three-dancer limit, and per-body stage limits. Deliberate pings can bypass the automatic cooldown.
- Flying creatures, worms, blobs, quadrupeds, drones, and other unsuitable bodies are excluded.
Solus Wing protection
Version 0.2.1 blocks Solus Wing through shared CustomEmotesAPI playback, join, and animation-setup entry points, including upstream/network requests. The guard stays active even when random dance events are disabled. Native boss combat and animation are left unchanged.
Restart the game after updating every player. MDB_SOLUS_WING_GUARD_READY confirms guard setup; MDB_SOLUS_WING_BLOCKED reports a prevented request. The reported crash and native detour behavior still require a boss-fight retest; offline guard checks are not live crash-reproduction proof.
Installation
- Close the game and install MonsterDanceBreak by Rodanius using r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager. Allow the manager to install the listed dependencies.
- Disable older manually imported copies of this mod so only one copy loads.
- Launch modded. For multiplayer, every player should use the same mod and dependency versions.
For a manual installation, merge the archive's BepInEx folder into your mod profile, keeping each DLL beside its supplied assets. Shared dependencies must be installed separately. Try experimental changes in a separate profile first.
Emote packs
CustomEmotesAPI and R2API Networking are required and are declared as dependencies. Install at least one compatible emote pack as well: the addon selects from the animations actually registered by your installed packs. It does not include dance animations or music.
The development setup used BadAssEmotes, Deltarune Emotes, and TF2Emotes. Keep the same emote packs and versions on every peer. Interactive/partner emotes are excluded by default because their callbacks can reposition characters; leave that option off for ordinary combat behavior.
Multiplayer and configuration
Use solo or a player-hosted lobby. Every player needs this addon, CustomEmotesAPI, and matching emote packs. The host chooses events; clients display the selected body, emote, and variant. Dedicated servers and late-join replay are unsupported. Music is not guaranteed to be sample-synchronized.
BepInEx creates the configuration after the first launch. Tune event timing and durations there; Selection.ExcludedBodies accepts semicolon-separated prefab IDs and trailing * family matches. API and emote-pack callbacks remain controlled by those third-party mods.
Release status
Experimental. Earlier entrances were user-playtested; this release's guard and expanded scenarios have offline policy/API verification and still need native multiplayer and boss-fight checks. Include the package, API, and emote-pack versions with reproducible bug reports.
