Turn Megingjord into a belt built for long journeys, steep climbs and making a timely exit. Usain's Belt adds a modest running-speed bonus, substantially reduces the stamina spent running and jumping, and helps your stamina recover a little faster.

Default bonuses while equipped:

• 10% faster running
• 50% less running stamina cost
• 50% less jumping stamina cost
• 10% bonus to stamina regeneration

Each bonus has its own configuration setting. Turn any of them down, increase them, or set them to zero. Walking speed, swimming speed, jump height and the delay before stamina starts recovering remain unchanged. Regeneration and stamina-cost bonuses combine through Valheim's native status-effect rules.

Earn Your Running Belt

Craft at a level-one Galdr table using:

• 1 Megingjord
• 10 scale hide
• 5 refined eitr

Buy Megingjord from Haldor as usual, then bring it back with materials from your Mistlands adventures. Crafting consumes the original belt. Haldor does not sell Usain's Belt, and this mod does not change his stock or unlock conditions.

Usain's Belt uses a recoloured version of Megingjord's actual model and its own inventory icon. It weighs 2 and provides no carry-weight or armour bonus. Crafting materials, station, required station level and colour are configurable too.

Better Together With Rpg Equipment

Usain's Belt is a native Utility item. It works on its own in Valheim's normal utility slot, or alongside other equipped utilities with RPG Equipment. Wear a separate Megingjord alongside it if you want both the movement benefits and extra carrying capacity.

RPG Equipment is optional. Identical copies of Usain's Belt do not multiply its effect. All equipped effects remain subject to normal game stacking rules; combining stamina-cost reductions can make running or jumping free.

Visual appearance follows your equipment system. Vanilla has one utility visual slot, while helmets have their own slot. Wearing several utilities does not imply that every utility model will be displayed simultaneously.

Configure Your Pace

Launch once to create BepInEx/config/au.tyvalheim.usainsbelt.cfg, then close Valheim before editing. Under [Balance]:

Each accepts 0–100. Zero disables that bonus. Restart Valheim after making changes. The package contains no config file, so updating preserves your existing settings; new entries are added on launch.

The [Crafting] section controls the recipe and station. The [Appearance] section controls the belt's colour tint.

Installation

Requires BepInExPack_Valheim. Built against Valheim 1.0.16 and BepInEx 5.4.23.5.

1. Close Valheim.
2. Extract the download into your Valheim folder, retaining BepInEx/plugins/UsainsBelt/UsainsBelt.dll.
3. Keep only one copy of the DLL. Launch the game to generate or update the config.

Install on all participating clients and the dedicated server. Use matching settings: this version does not synchronize or enforce configuration across the server and clients.

Testing And Compatibility

Version 0.1.4 has passed the author's gameplay testing and automated build/API checks. It includes the corrected inventory icon and configurable stamina recovery. Broader mod-collection and multiplayer compatibility remains open to community testing.

The belt uses a separate item prefab and native equip status effect. The original Megingjord is not replaced. Runtime model materials and the icon are copied before recolouring. No new movement hotkeys or continuous player-stat rewrites are needed.

Before uninstalling, remove Usain's Belts from saved inventories and containers, then save and exit. The custom item requires the mod to remain available.

Thunderstore installation

Install BepInExPack Valheim and this package using your mod manager, or follow the manual installation above. The 0.1.4 DLL is byte-identical to the public Nexus release. No gameplay changes or version bump were made for this package. Packaging and documentation use OpenAI Codex; AI attribution metadata is provided separately so the DLL stays unchanged.
