README

MagicStaffTweakerClientOnly

Client-only tuning for Valheim's vanilla magic staffs: costs, damage, summon health, summons per cast, and a local Dead Raiser summon-count bypass.

Edition and installation

Install this edition on your client. It does not synchronize settings with a server. Use the separate MagicStaffTweaker server-required edition when everyone should use the same synchronized settings.

Install with a compatible mod manager, or put MagicStaffTweaker.dll and MagicStaffTweaker.Core.dll under BepInEx/plugins. Keep only one edition installed. Requires BepInExPack Valheim and Jötunn.

The plugin identity and config filename are unchanged: com.magicstafftweaker.client.cfg. Keep your existing config when updating and back it up before switching Thunderstore listings.

Controls and fixes

  • Staff-specific cost, projectile and damage controls.
  • Outgoing staff damage scaling and an AOE fallback, without multiplying inherited damage twice.
  • Summon Health uses the actual vanilla prefab baseline for its default and Reset button; positive custom values are preserved.
  • Saved settings persist through restarts; missing keys alone receive defaults.
  • Hidden settings no longer override skeleton movement, and shared summon weapon damage no longer compounds across equips.
  • Summons Per Cast (1–20, default 1) for Dead Raiser, Trollstav, Staff of the Wild and Spirit Caller.
  • Ignore Dead Raiser Level Limit (default off) bypasses staff-quality/Blood Magic count limits for locally owned skeletons following your player. Strength and star scaling are retained. Switching it off restores normal enforcement.

Use freshly summoned creatures when testing health or movement changes. Summons Per Cast requests a count; placement and ordinary active limits can still affect the result.

Multiplayer limitations

Your outgoing damage can be sent to an unmodded target owner, but settings remain local. Summons and persistent effects may be controlled by another client. Ownership changes, PvP checks, resistances and other mods can affect results. The local bypass does not enforce a shared server policy or guarantee the same behaviour on other clients.

Compatibility and release status

Built against the installed Valheim assemblies and Jötunn 2.30.x. Future game updates may require changes. The client 2.2.4 functionality was tested in-game by the author/user; 2.2.5 carries the same functionality with the Thunderstore name updated. Automated regression checks passed.
