Backpacks and Tackleboxes

Updated 2 weeks ago

Both are crafted, and each recipe takes the one before it, so you upgrade rather than collect. The tables show the defaults; a server can change them (Configuration).

  • Wear one by putting it in the Backpack slot (drop it there or right click it). The worn pack is equipment: it shows as equipped, and with Epic Loot it can be enchanted at the enchanting table, its effects working while you wear it.
  • Its cells are added to the bottom of the grid, and its carry weight to yours. Unused cells of a part row are crossed out.
  • Take it off by dragging it out. Its items move to free cells; what does not fit drops at your feet.
  • It hangs on your back for every player to see. Show Worn Backpack hides it without losing its cells.
  • Backpack Portal Pass (off by default) lets the items in the Moosehide Pack's cells through portals, ores and metals included.

Tackleboxes

Biome Tacklebox Crafted at Cost Cells Weight
Meadows Driftwood Tacklebox Workbench 2 10 Wood, 10 Leather scraps, 5 Deer hide 1 2
Black Forest Finewood Tacklebox Workbench 3 Driftwood Tacklebox, 10 Fine wood, 10 Troll hide, 2 Bronze 2 3
Mistlands Carapace Tacklebox Black forge 1 Finewood Tacklebox, 10 Carapace, 10 Yggdrasil wood 6 3
Ashlands Flametal Tacklebox Black forge 3 Carapace Tacklebox, 5 Flametal, 10 Asksvin hide 8 4
  • Put a box in the Tacklebox slot, right of the key ring button. Right click it there to open or shut its cells.
  • The slot's corner shows cells used out of cells ("3/6"). A box only holds bait while it is in the slot.
  • It holds fishing bait, plus anything listed in Tackle Items.
  • Bait you pick up goes into the box first. You can also drag bait onto the slot.
  • The fishing rod takes bait from the box first. Right click a bait in the box to fish with that one.
  • Taking the box out moves its bait into the grid; what does not fit drops at your feet.

Upgrading

  • Craft the next backpack while the one its recipe takes is in the Backpack slot: the new one replaces it there. No free cell is needed, everything in its cells stays, and a bigger pack opens more cells.
  • The same for a tacklebox in the Tacklebox slot: its bait stays.
  • A pack or box carried in the grid upgrades the game's way, and the new one needs a free cell. So does crafting several at once, or crafting for free.

Magic backpacks (EliteCrafting)

With EliteCrafting 0.5.0 or later installed, backpacks are an item class of their own (Backpacks):

  • EliteCrafting's runes work on them like on other gear. They never drop ready-made: make one magic with runes.
  • Item levels by biome: Deerhide Satchel 1, Trollhide 2, Rootbound 3, Wolfpelt 4, Lox Hauler 5, Carapace 6, Asksvin 7, Moosehide 8.
  • They roll Deep Pockets, Broad Back and Pack Mule at every tier, and Lightened, Gossamer, Magpie and Harvester with their top third of tiers closed.
  • Deep Pockets (prefix): +1 to +4 backpack cells. +1 can roll from item level 1, +2 from level 3, +3 from level 6, +4 only on the Moosehide Pack (8). The cells appear as the rune lands; a Cleansing Rune takes them away, their items moving to free cells and the rest dropping at your feet.
  • The other inscriptions work while the pack is in the Backpack slot. Lightened and Gossamer lighten the pack wherever it is.
  • Upgrading a magic pack keeps its rarity and inscriptions, with the same values and tiers.
  • Every magic item shows its rarity colour behind it, in the grid, the slots, the key ring, the tacklebox and chests.
