Stability Meter
Switch: F1 → 0 - Sub-mods → Stability Meter (off by default).
Ever placed a long beam or a high roof, seen it standing, and found it in pieces a little later? The game works out a piece's support a little at a time: each piece from its neighbours' current values, and pieces loaded from the save only start after 30 seconds. So a new piece first looks fine and can come down once the lower values have worked their way up. Stability Meter shows the end result at once.
How to use
Switch it on at the top of the F1 settings (it is off by default). Then, while the hammer is out, aim at any building piece: a small bar and percentage appear just below the crosshair.
- Stability 100% (blue): on the ground, full support.
- Green: well supported. Yellow to red: getting weak.
- Will collapse (red): this piece is going to come down; it needs more support below it.
0% means just enough support to stand (the material's minimum); 100% is full support.
Details
- It reads the building the way the game does (the same overlap boxes, distances, support points and material values), then plays the game's own support rule forward on a copy, piece after piece in the game's order, until nothing changes any more. So it shows the support the game will end up with, not the number that is still on its way. It even follows the game's shortcuts: a building placed in one go (a pasted schematic) can settle a little higher than the same one built piece by piece, and the meter shows exactly that.
- Checked against the game itself (wall stacks, beams sticking out sideways, bridges, built at once and piece by piece): the same end values and the same pieces falling.
- The search stops at pieces that touch the ground (they always have full support), so it is quick; it is worked out again every few seconds and right after you place a piece.
- The colours follow the game's own support colours, the ones the hammer's highlight shows.
- Show support value adds the numbers behind the percentage: the final support, the most this material can have and the least it needs to stand (wood 100 / 10, core wood 140 / 10, stone 1000 / 100, iron 1500 / 20, ...).
Notes
- Client-side, nothing is changed: it only looks. Works with any building mod that uses the game's support.
- Ultimate Builder has the same meter in its creative world; while this one is on, that one stays off, so you see one.
Settings (F1)
In F1 these are under Stability Meter - ..., below the switches.

| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Show support value | off | Also show the support numbers behind the percentage: the final support, the most this material can have, and the least it needs to stand (below that it collapses). |
